And as is the case when Deuce and I agree, everyone else is unquestionably wrong and the thread can be considered complete.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

The problem I see this year with guys like Thornton is they are afraid to come in and get recruited over the next year. It is a tough situation, but as stated earlier...better than no one wanting to come play. Odd year with Bledsoe and Orton coming out, we will just have to see how it all plays out.

FormerCawoodTrojan, How do we get the big guys we need for the 2010 - 2011 Year? I've got confidence in Coach Call but he's taking a long time to fix the missing parts of next year's team to keep us in the Mix for a Championship!

Go Big Blue!

I'll take the talent every time. Give me 4 ***** guys every year, and I'll give you "a couple" 3-4 year guys each year, and let's see who has more success.

Bottomline, talent wins more often than not. For the life of me, I could never understand why someone would want less talented guys.

I agree. I'll take UK's classes going forward over anyones.

I am sure Rhod Rodes was 5 star. What was Jeff Shepherd?

List the worst 5 star players and the best 3 or 4 star players. Bet we have more better 3 adn 4 star guys than bust in 5*

Derrick Rose was a 5 star PG out of HS.

DeAndre Liggins was a 4 star PG out of HS.

That should show the difference...

Thats one example. You could also say Randolph Morris was a 5* player and Joakim Noah and Al Horford were 4* players. Guys evaluate players who are scouts or whatever and place them in a certain order and give them stars. At the end of the day it means nothing. Jodie Meeks was a 4* player and Samardo Samuels was a 5* player. Shelvin Mack was probably a 2* player as well as Gordon Hayward.

So you don't want Kanter or Brandon Knight? Forget about Gilchrist, Teague and half the 2011 McD's All-American team? If UK could take the 12 best guys in the country every year, and have to replace them after one season that would be perfectly fine by me. UK basketball is fun now, people care about UK basketball outside of KY, and many hate UK again. 1 and done or 5th year senior, I don't particularly care as long as they work hard and represent the state well.

What more could we want? Should we beg Orton and Bledsoe not to leave? It's their decision, and who are we to tell them not to go? Not one person on here is going to turn down a 3 year job offer that is guaranteed and brings in over 7 figures annually. And not one of us griped when Wall or Cousins or Kanter signed, or when Knight, Gilchrist and Teague committed.

Let's recruit players that don't have as much talent because they will be here longer....No one does that. By no one I mean the big guys. Duke has older players many times, but they can't recruit every kid they want because of academics. So they are limited somewhat. UNC and Kansas never turn down talent when they can get it. No matter how you recruit, you can't really predict a championship run. If the NCAA was set up like the NBA playoffs in the final 4 rounds, I would have liked UK and Kansas chances against anyone last season. Freshman, Sophomore, Senior...it doesn't matter. Alot of things have to come together for a championship run, and the most talented team ends up going out earlier than expected many years.

I believe in this year's class we got Lamb and Poole who I don't think will be 1 and done players. We could probably use another solid player like those 2 that will be around for a while. Odds are Kanter and Knight will leave after 1 year, but you never know. If we were to some how get Jones I'd imagine he'd be 50/50 odds of being here more than 1 year.

You posted 4 smilies. We only want 5 smiley guys!:ohbrother:

I read somewhere where Knight he is an excellent student and wanted to study engineering. I know the money is hard to turn down if presented but is there a possibility of him staying to get his degree?

No.

No.

Yes there most certainly is a chance of him staying. If he doesn't pan out and don't become the player he appears to be. Its possible.

Its possible I'll run a marathon next month. Its sure not looking that way but, as you say, its possible.:D
