They are saying they can do it on Saturdays. I am sure they have researched it before this all went public.

The only positive the draft has is success for the stars of the league and the egotistical coaches. Every coach has the intention of winning, but as posted earlier the late bloomers get lost in the shuffle. Those kids sometimes lose interest and enjoyment for the game.

 

Every Pee Wee league should teach kids how to play football properly and teach them all of the great things about the game of football. Winning should be a bi-product of how well the players learn the fundamentals, supplemented by their ability.

 

Very well said Woody, and that is truly the biggest problem of all! The EGO'S! I know for a fact that coach Trosper has tried for a couple of years to get BCPWF on board with this idea, and has got nothing ,but a hard time! :irked::puke:

That statement could get us started on the turf issue again. Currently Ryle is the only BC team with the turf that allows continious play throughout the week. Boone, Conner, and Cooper having turf would allow more than enough opportunites for these games to be played on a regular schedule. :irked:

I am still not clear on what Ryle is considering doing. Are they looking to form one middle school team? Or are they looking to form their own league? I think the Ft. Thomas model and a Ryle league is the way to go. Ryle's district is twice the size of Ft. Thomas so they should be able to form their own league. You go to 4 teams with small numbers of players, play everyone and teach like Ft. Thomas. If you form one middle school team, you are going to leave out a lot of kids who may turn into good football players as they mature. Make it a league about learning and fun and watch it grow just like Ft. Thomas. There are a lot of kids in the Ryle district who would love this concept. Someone told me they had something like 90 lids who wanted to play freshman baseball. The numbers are there to form your own league.

What is the average number of kids per team? Do they get all the kids in each Saturday during the game, or do they play a 5th quarter?

 

Given the structure, not less than 22 kids per team and they try to keep it at or below 28 per team. Since you are coaching 2 Os and 2 Ds, everyone should get plenty of playing time.

Not meaning to take this thread way off topic, but can someone:

 

1) Verify that this is true.

 

2) Explain the reasoning behind it.

 

I know what I've heard in the past, but I find it interesting that our (Ryle) own AD did not know the reasoning behind it when I asked him. It seems to be one of those things that's "always been done that way" but no one knows why. And if it's for the reason that I've heard (church-related), why cannot school facilities be used in afternoon hours that wouldn't conflict with church? And exactly why are churches (IF this is indeed the reason) having such a say in the Boone County Public School policy?

The vast majority of rational people would like to know why the BOE refuses to allow middle school football. I made a personal proposal to then Super Blavatt about starting middle school football. The league offered to help with the equipment to help offset the initial costs for the school. Because at the time the league was growing very fast and the league thought that it would be better to concentrate on the 1-6 grade divisions and increase the number of teams for those divisions. With only one field there is a limited amount of time for games on the weekends.

 

The Super/BOE pretty much said no thanks before I finished the proposal.

 

These are exactly the kind of people that are also quick to cry about X and T.

 

Thank God someone (Ryle) is taking the bull by the horns and moving in a direction that will help them compete with X and T.

 

All any school has to do is look at the Fort Thomas Model if they want to get better in football.

Cooperstown - for one the AD at Ryle knows why there is this policy - the administrators do not want to have to be present at the schools/events on Sunday. They went to the school board and got the policy changed. They use to allow for activities after 1:00 but no more.

"They" as in Ryle went to the school board and got this changed? Or all the AD's within the school district? And how long ago did this change take place? Was Ryle's current AD in place at the time? I know him pretty well and no way he would lie to me - he said he had no idea what caused the policy to be put in place, but that there simply exists a policy that school facilities can't be used.

 

Certainly you've heard the rumor that a certain large Florence church put pressure on the school board to enact this policy? No truth to it at all?

No, this policy has been in place well before last year. I would guess it's been in place for no less than 5-6 years, possibly much longer.

Then an exemption was made because two years ago the football team had their banquet on a Sunday at the school in the commons
