Tips/suggestions about buying a motorcycle

Featured Replies

So I'm going to check out a motorcycle tomorrow up in Indiana and I've never really done this before. I keep hearing that its a buyers market for motorcycles but don't know how much wiggle room these sales folks really have. Any suggestions, is there any mathematical formula or magic number I should consider when talking price of the bike. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

The bike is a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 900, they shop is asking $5,400 for it but it blue books at $4,950. I'm really hoping I can get it below blue book given the market right now.

It's just a guess but Id imagine he was wanting to get 5,000 out of it and he added the 400 to have some room to come down.

Don't do it, there are two types of motorcycle riders, one's that have laid their bike down, and one's that will.

I never laid mine down and I don't have it anymore. It was fun while it lasted. Not sure I will get one again but you never know.

For the most part, this is true. But, you car say the same for car drivers. I have ridden on and off for years, and so far, I have been lucky, I have also seen what motorcycle wrecks can do. If you do decide to get one, just be careful my friend.

My Parents have two so I've been riding for about 4 years now, but I just decided it's time to get my own.

Low ball them with $4000 and then max offer at $4500. If they don't take it, move on to another. JMO

Don't forget to save some money to customize it! Enjoy it but be safe.

One of the happiest days in my life was the day I sold my motorcycle. Way too many close calls.

And it is not the motorcycle itself being dangerous necessarily, but the other drivers and traffic you must navigate through.

That is so true.
