Tebow to Denver as a TE

Featured Replies

Rumor mill is swirling that McDaniels wants to develop Tebow as a TE...

Add this to the list of his demise when he gets fired in 1-2 years.

Why is this stupid?

I like the move. Let him play TE & try it out. Develop him at QB in the meantime.

People say he's a great athlete but he's not a QB. Why not try him somewhere else?

He has never played Tight End, so now you want to move him, and for the NFL? Learning to block/run routes/get hit by several players at once (remember UK last year?)/ Learning to catch the Ball. Ever see the linebackers in the NFL? I'd be shocked if this happens. Like I said...its stupid.

You mean a stupid move like the Chargers taking a guy who played college basketball and turning him into the best TE in football? Yeah, I bet they wish they would've listened to your advice about making such a "stupid" move....

I think it'd be smarter to move Tebow to fullback.

Jon Gruden made an excellent point when he compared Tebow to Mike Alstott in goalline situations.

They didn't use a first rounder on Gates though so there was really no risk. If Tebow is a flop and get's picked early it could be bad for JMcD.

Gates also played TE in college. Completely different situation.

I can see this. Definately the best move for all parties involved, imo.

I think you're mistaken BM. Gates played in HS and not in college though alot of teams wanted him.

I think it's stupid, draft him late second round and try to develop him as a QB.

:thumb: Gates didn't play organized football after his senior year of high school...No idea where the "he played in college line of thinking comes from"...:idunno:

I didn't mean college necessarily, I'm saying he was a TE in high school, and was scouted for the NFL as a TE. He was never a different position regardless of the time he spent playing basketball. It wasn't a DE or QB turning into a TE, it's a basketball player who was also a TE. It's a different situation regardless if he played in college or not.

You're correct, it was a different situation. It's much more difficult to go from not playing a sport for 5+ years, to NFL superstar than it is to switch positions.

Uhh, what exactly did you mean then? :p
