I went to the Apple store today, and I played with an iPad. I want one! I could never afford to buy a Mac computer, but starting at $499, the iPad is totally within the realm of possibility for me!

 

Have any of you had any experience with one? After my son gets married in June, I'm going to get me one them there iPad's!:jump::jump::jump:

I just don't get the Ipad craze ? I haven't had the chance to mess around with one in person though.

 

Isn't it essentially an huge Iphone that doesn't make calls ?

 

They look nice, I just think if I'm spending $499, I'm going to go ahead and thrown another couple hundred dollars out and get a decent laptop...

Agree... don't see the point at all. Definitely useless for the college age IMO.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice gadget. That's about it though, a gadget. Not much function in my opinion.

It's awesome! For me, it would be invaluable. Much of what I do is internet based, meaning I access certain systems and applications externally. The iPad is lightening fast, and so incredibly portable. And since I do much of my work from home, that's important. Even with several browsers open it was fast. I could do so much, so quickly, and ANYWHERE! For me, that's invaluable. I won't even go into all the aps available. But suffice it to say, I'm sold!

They look cool. I'd like to play around with one sometime.

I wouldn't even consider getting one until the 2nd generation comes out.

I've got the iPad mini sitting on my desk. It's called an iPod Touch.

I'd say the 2nd generation ipad will be alot better.

Hmm, that might be a viable option for me, instead of lugging around a laptop to meetings and such.

I believe the 3G version is coming out in the next month.
