April 14, 201016 yr Author I guess at this point you have to ask if the jobs they provide are worth the tax abatements? Then after the tax abatements are up, they are paying taxes and providing jobs. Actually I am never for 100% of tax forgiveness, as everyone should have to pay something. A flat tax rate for everyone and every business. i am not talking about tax abatements, someone else mentioned that. I am talking about subsidies. That is a whole 'nother issue.
April 14, 201016 yr The bottom line is that the system needs to be fixed. I do have a problem with a system that allows a company to make record profits and pay no taxes. Companies and individuals find ways to reduce their tax liability every year, and until the system is fixed (eg. flat tax), it will continue to happen.

You act like they receive no "free" benefit from the government already, yet you forget that all of the services I have mentioned above plus many, many more are used by the company and are not free. You've stumbled into the right answer, Ace, & I'll bet you don't even know it. Roads, Police & Fire Depts, National Defense, Civil Court system. Yup. Wealth redistribution: NO!! Social Security, Medicare, and Defense make up the bulk of the budget.

Teachers that had summer jobs or drove school buses (several years back the bus drivers paid into social security) have their social security decreased, because they draw from the state retirement fund.

If people are paying in more than they will get back, why is it headed toward being insolvent?
