April 7, 201016 yr Author Answer this question. Do you take legal tax deductions and credits? If so then you are no better then that greedy corperation. Just think of all of the poor that could be helped if greedy people didn't take the deductions and credits the law says they can take. My tax deductions are taken for when I contribute to the poor. I do itemize and I claim my mortgage and property taxes AND contributions to the charities I choose and that is it. I could take deductions for all of the money I spend on the kids at my school, or the supplies that I buy, but I do not. Nor do I deduct the contributions to goodwill or the salvation army.

Then that's it...This should be a Thread Stopper.
April 7, 201016 yr Speaking of which welcome back 3.00 gas this week. Will 3.30-3.50 stall the economy again.. I think theres a good chance?

So then you use completely legal means to pay less in taxes then you otherwise would, just like those greedy corperations.
April 7, 201016 yr Author So then you use completely legal means to pay less in taxes then you otherwise would, just like those greedy corperations. So you guys are okay with all the poor people getting their subsidies, because that is the system we have set up. I said I am great playing by these rules . . . it appears, in other threads that many of you folks are not. When corporations use whatever means necessary to get more money, within the law, that is fine, when individuals do it, and collect their "subsidies" you are not okay with it.
April 7, 201016 yr Author I am also amazed that you folks think this is okay. Really I am, because it is legal?? Abortion is legal and you don't think that is okay. Since when did something being legal make for a good argument on this board. Well, "she is playing within the rules we have set up, so go for it." That welfare queen driving in her cadillac is playing with the system set up by our government, more power to her. That lazy good for nothing man is moving into the section 8 property near mine, but hey that is the system we have set up so more power to them.
April 7, 201016 yr And I'm amazed that someone with all of the compassion and empathy you have said you have would do anything to reduce the amount of money that you send to the government to do all of their good work. After all there have to be people less well off then you that could use your money more then you can. I mean if you and all like minded people "did the right thing" and refused to take any deductions or credits at all then you could offset much of the damage that me and "greedy" like minded people and corporations do by taking our deductions. If it's not OK for Exxon to take the deductions that they do (while at the same time providing employment for literally millions of Americans {how many jobs did your "welfare queen" make for Americans?}) then what justification can you possibly give for anyone taking legal deductions?
April 7, 201016 yr I am not sure what the complaint is here. Ace, do you pay sales tax in Kentucky on an item bought in California? Why not? If you live in a county that has a local payroll tax (most do now), and you work in a city in that county that also has a payroll tax (most do), the county tax is pro rata reduced by the amount of the city tax. You know that, right? Most of these companies produce in other areas of the world, and some even have more in foreign sales. If the production and distribution are foreign, what moral justification would their be for taxing that? The U.S. is not 17th century Britain, the companies aren't given a King's Charter, and I can find very little that the U.S. now does to preserve these companies that they cannot do for themselves. Perhaps someone can shed some light.
April 7, 201016 yr Author If they are not an American company, they should not recieve American subsidies. Kentucky does not give tax incentives to Indiana companies, for sure.
April 7, 201016 yr So then illegal aliens in the United States should recieve no assistance from the government? If they are not American citizens (or LEGAL immigrants) they should get no assistance from the government. That's your stand, correct?
April 7, 201016 yr If they are not an American company, they should not recieve American subsidies. Kentucky does not give tax incentives to Indiana companies, for sure. Didn't Martha Layne Collins (Kentucky) give Toyota tax incentives to build their plant in Georgetown?

Teacher's deductions for these things is a max of $250. You couldn't take all of it off.

Sure they do, as well as Ohio companies, as well as Japanese companies, as well as British companies, as well as German companies. That's just ones I have personal knowledge about. I'm sure other states and countries are involved in KY tax incentives.

Actually, the company has to be located in Kentucky, doing business in kentucky, hiring employees in Kentucky - they may be headquartered somewhere else, but they have tax liabilities IN THIS STATE.
