Beechwood installed theirs the summer of 2003, I know Highlands had it either one or two years before Beechwood.

 

I believe it was at the beginning of the 2002 season for Highlands. BW 2003. CCH 2004.

I think LexCath had it in 2001 when CCH played them in the playoffs.

LexCath installed their turf in time for the 1999 football season. It will be ripped up and replaced this summer starting on June 1. I believe there will be additions and improvements to the entire sports complex at LC. This includes lights and power to the baseball part of the complex. The turf has held up well and it will be great to see how advancements and technology have improved the product. LC got 11 seasons out of the turf.

 

Can I put in a request for them to put up a scoreboard that can be viewed from the visitors section?

I was told LexCath will be replacing theirs in advance of the 2010-11 school year.

1999 is what I thought. I do know it is in terrible shape and needs replacing. We have kids get the pieces of rubber in their eyes and a ton of turf burns everytime we play at LC.

 

Rubber in their eyes is not a sign that it needs replacing or that it is in bad shape. From day 1, there are pieces of the rubber in fill that get in eyes, shoes and every other crack and location.

 

Highlands field was installed in 2002. Field Turf gave a 10 year warranty but told us it should last at least a couple of years beyond that. With Lex Cath getting 12 years out of their surface, that sounds about right.

 

In the next 4 or so years, we'll be replacing ours too,

Belfry's went down in 05. I think FieldTurf had revised their warranty by that time to 8 years, but suggested we might get 3-4 years beyond that before replacement becomes necessary depending on usage.

 

LN, do you know if HHS has an idea of the replacement costs? I assume the drainage and base will remain and you'll just have to change the turf itself. I wonder if any of the fill material can be reused or if you have to replace it to.

The Coaches at LC told us that they had to add more than usual because it was so worn. I know all about the rubber being in there since day one. It was exactly why more players got it in there eyes over and over that game.

Act too interested, and you find yourself on some committee tasked with raising money. Hopefully (and I'm quite the optimist) the school will pick up the tab this time.

Thank goodness. The facilities are too impressive to have the visitors side being not up to par. Looking forward to our road game at LexCath....as always.:thumb:

When I was last at LexCath in the fall for middle school football semis, they had a banner hanging just before you got to the bleachers that said they're redoing the baseball complex and installing new turf on the football field.

 

I know the baseball field has been in need of repair for quite a while, and they're supposedly putting more than $1 million toward that facility.
