The field is 10 years old and will be replaced this summer.

There are tests for abrasiveness and for bounce. The field was starting to get close the limits in those tests. The field was refurbished before this past football season and a lot of crushed rubber was removed. It helped but it was only buying another school year of use.

Given the landlocked environment and schedule of use the field has been great. Turf fields are great for multi-sport environments. Weather is less impacting and the facility gets much greater use than a grass field. In the link above there is a diagram of the field. The current field is setup in the same layout but there will be improvements with the rework this summer. You can see that the softball field is built into the football field and separate from the baseball field so you can have softball and baseball going on simultaneously.
