April 8, 201016 yr Reds pitching was 7th in ERA last year in the NL. Hardly average or below average. Gomes/Nix combined for 35 HRs and 90+ rbi's last year. How many LFers put up better numbers? SS - not sure about the defensive prowess of the new SS but offensively his numbers are above average for a SS. My guess is Rolen will be above average overall. Defensively, he's easily in the discussion for top overall. Lincoln is terrible. Masset is average at best. Rhodes is good, but he's also like 45. Herrera is decent, not great. The Logan kid is unproven, and seems below-average. Cordero is one of the most overpaid, overrated closers in the game. What am I missing? If you're statisfied with Gomes/Nix in LF, then what the Reds produce this season, mediocrity, will be suffice for you. Cabrera is an improvement, but he's an average at best SS. Rolen may end up above-average, but I'm not conviced he'll a) hold up the entire year, and b) not be traded once they're out of contention by June 1.

This Reds team has zero chance at winning not only the NL Central, but any division in baseball. None. They don't have anywhere close to the talent. The Cards may win 100 games this year realistically. The Reds will be lucky to get to 80.

In the outfield Stubbs doesn't have enough ML AB's for you to rate him below average, but I believe he has the talent to put up as good as, or even better stats than Rasmus.I doubt that you could find a general manager in baseball that would take Stubbs over Rasmus. The Reds LF is a joke, and as I mentioned earlier Dusty should be playing Francisco to see what the promising young star can do. Johnny Bench has been quoted as saying he has more potential than Prince Fielder.Francisco isn't ready to be an everyday player, and just because Bench says it doesn't mean it is true. The Reds have some very promising young arms in Cueto, Bailey and Leake, with Wood and Chapman waiting in Louisville. Arroyo won 15 games last year. Harang has been awful the past two years, but I actually expect drastic improvment from him this year despite his Opening Day start.They still have Dusty handling them ... To say the Cards are heads and shoulders above the Reds simply isn't true.You might want to take off the Red glasses ...

I'm sure you're a better evaluator of talent than Bench. I don't know why you waste your time doing what you do instead of making good money as a scout or better yet GM. How many times have you seen him play? If he's not ready then he doesn't need to be sitting on a bench at the ML level. They still have Dusty handling them ...
