You're on the right track. The Revivalists are from New Orleans, so maybe some horns heritage is ingrained. I don't know if anyone new has to be horns heavy, I just like eclectic instrumentation, and like the way brass can "punch up" a song.

 

I just posted Curtis Mayfield and Tower of Power tunes on the "Songs You Haven't Heard for a While" thread. I'm fond of Dr. John's "In the Right Place" too, as an example. I'm not looking for this type (funk/soul) exactly.

 

Roots music? Jazz influenced? Strings? Indie prog? I'll give anything a listen, but a little brass seasons the gumbo for me.

My pleasure...glad I could help, and I always dig being introduced to new bands, and that festival website is a great one stop shop to do it.

 

Top to bottom it's worth checking out, and I also get a thrill seeing what "no name" bands at the bottom in a couple of years rise to the top.

Just as a piece of trivia worth mentioning... the blonde haired girl named Ruby in the act "The Sisterhood" that's going to play at your festival is the daughter of Rod Stewart.

 

The brunette Alyssa is the daughter of Kathie Baillie and Michael Bonagura of the 80's country band "Baillie and The Boys" (who I honestly have never heard of, but apparently they had a handful of hits on the country charts when they were active).
