Here's a couple from X Ambassadors that I really dig...

 

I like the use of nontraditional electronic percussion in this one. I hear this sound more and more here and there and generally I like its fresh take on beats in a tune.

 

Another example of that modern electronic percussion sound that I'm digging.

Jack Garratt - Worry

 

This tune by Oh Wonder - Lose It came out right around the same time as Jack Garratt's - Worry, and while not the same there's so much about it that reminds me of it...

 

This video is kinda fun because they auditioned dancers for the video who didn't realize that their audition would be the takes that would end up in the video...

Not the typical modern pop fluff that I go for, but somehow this tune has pretty quickly earwormed its way into my head...

 

...chances are I'll be over it in a heartbeat, but for now I'll just dig this slice of melodramatic candy with all it's predictable trendy modern pop posturing....

 

Only after a few listens I feel like I've already heard it about 1000 times.

 

Chances are I'll lose credibility merely by posting it. :lol2:

 

Ed Sheeran certainly hasn't done anything here other than borrow a slow generic blues riff, and I'll have to admit that I've been aching to smack him if he said "Make It Rain" one more time in this song, and while I wanted so much to hate it merely on its unoriginality and annoying redundancy, I have to say I've grown to really like it. :lol2:

 

I suppose that I could start a whole new thread related to independent and underground gems that might've been overlooked, or simply unheard by the mainstream audiences over the years, but rather than do that I'll simply place this tune here in the "New Music" thread even though this song was officially released back in 2013.

 

Purists of "New Music" legitimately could call foul, or possibly be happy to revisit this great tune, or maybe even be be thrilled to be introduced to it in the event they've never heard it before.

In the same spirit of "Not exactly New", this tune "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens released in 2005 I feel has stood the test of time, and just grows more interesting to me with each listen.

Transplanted to Nashville from Dayton, Ohio singer/songwriter Amanda June and Shreveport, Louisiana native, and Blake Shelton coached on Season 5 of the Voice, Cole Vosbury have joined together under the moniker of The Lovers and present a vocally pure duo of beautiful Country/Folk artistry.

 

They bring their delicious sound to MOTR in Cincinnati this Wednesday night, Feb. 28th.

 

"Blacktop Mojo" out of Texas. How'd I miss these guys before. They bring a touch of everything really. Southern Rock, Hard Rock, a touch of Grunge etc...Check out their cover of "Dream On". That's what got me started. The Burn the Ships LP is fairly new and really good. I believe they are doing some tour dates with Black Stone Cherry. Check em out!

Check out the Lexington area based band, Graveyard Romeos. New release for their 1st LP coming up titled "Beneath the Shadows" It has a touch of Metallica sound to it. Really good stuff!

It's not new by any stretch of the imagination, but I am amazed at how many people I have introduced this artist to who have never heard of her, and that is a crime by commercial radio. Brandi Carlisle. Go check her out. She has a new album coming out and it's great. But this is the song everyone should start with, because it's epic (and I don't use that word ever), and brilliant and beautiful, and in my top 10 all-time ever for greatest songs.
