I would love it if this were to happen. You will not get the chance to see too many more Kentucky kids play at UK as long as Cal is here. Not that he is racist toward them, but only because he recruits the best of the best. If your a KY kid and not top 50 then you shouldn't be looking at getting looked at by Cal. Guys like Miller and Hood, then potentially Beckham and Hicks may be the exception and not the rule. With a roster overhaul apparent, it looks as if Cal will have to bring in seven or eight guys just to have twelve on the team. Having Elisha on the team will give you that guy who will go the hardest every single day in practice, and show the other guys how much it means to wear Kentucky across your chest. I am sure he would rather sit and waive a towel on Rupp Arena's benches for four years instead of being a starter at Morehead. It's just something that is instilled in most Kentucky kids. People sleep on Justice a lot, but you cannot teach winning, the guy knows how to win. Being a Pike County native, and living here my whole life minus the three-four years I lived in Richmond/Lexington, I know how special it is for a school like Shelby Valley to win the State Title, and a kid like Elisha to win Mr. Basketball. I have got to see him play around a dozen times, and even though he's not the ideal size, he is a nice player. He looked very good against Glen Rice Jr in a game last year, with Rice seeing a lot of playing time this year at Georgia Tech. Not saying Justice will make an impact at Kentucky in games himself personally (more than likely), but as far as practice goes, and all the other things that come along with being at Kentucky, he will effect everyone else. To me this is turning out to be the perfect storm to get Elisha in a Kentucky uniform and I think it is the right thing to do, especially if it is just a walk on spot. If he can earn a scholly for a year, then it would be wonderful. I just really hope this works out, Elisha has worked so hard to get to where he is at, he deserves at least the opportunity to prove he can play with the big guys because obviously theres still out there who doubt him.

 

For me and I guess my own selfish reasons I'd rather see him go somewhere where I can go watch him play. Unfortunately, he's not playing for me so only he can make that decision. I wish him luck wherever he ends up. I definitely know what it means for Ky kids to put on the blue and white.

Why would one even think about race?

 

If a kid is top 50 or top 100 in the nation and he's from KY he IS an exception.

Sometimes it's important to have solid leaders, as well. I like this move for 2 reasons:

 

1) kids don't come any better than Justice off the court and he CAN play a little

 

2) why not kick Louisville below the belt by stealing one of their players and giving him the scholarship that Pitino isn't giving him; media win against a rival

Interesting that Cal finally called him. It will also be interesting to see if Pitino starting his recruitment of him months earlier will be worth anything. I bet this assures he gets a scholarship either way now. Especially since Cal doesn't take walk-on's. At least that's what he said last year when he got to UK.

Makes sense, I mean you would need a steady point guard on the team. Most of the ones he will bring in will be one and done, and if everything shakes out the way its looking, there will be none left. He tried to mold Miller into that kind of role but Miller didn't take too it too well.

 

 

It is really seeming like Cal knows something is going down. If he indeed was talking schollys with Elisha then he must know that all the frosh (other than Hood) are leaving. Crazy considering we all knew for sure Bledsoe and Orton would be at least two year players, but I guess just load up and do it again next season. Cal obviously was bragging to Dickie V about how he felt this class was going down, so I'm really anxious to see.

 

 

 

 

Wireman, you heard anything about any kind of homerun or out of left fielder in the works now that word is starting to leak that their may be a great exodus from Kentucky? Any chance somebody like Selby or Joseph makes a late change of heart?

 

 

Of course Knight and Leslie are sounding pretty solid right now, if we can pencil them in with Kanter and Poole that gives four, Elisha would make five (scholarship depending). Hearing Jones may be more of a possibility than once thought, so if Cal can hit a home run with a Selby, or a Joseph, or even bring in Lamb which certainly isn't out of the picture, then what a class. Its hard to get a group of freshman to buy in and put out the product like last years squad, but as far as filling positions with talent, that would sure do it.
