March 30, 201016 yr A bright person like you should be able to figure that one out on your own.Remember my last P.M.? But seriously, TB&G is right; they are identical situations.
March 30, 201016 yr Should a diabetic be eating at fast food chains? Serious question. I rarely if ever do . I'm talking about in the grocery store . :DGo back to thinking about work and quit trying to egg me on .
March 30, 201016 yr I usually am in full agreement with your views. However we will agree to disagree on this one. Have a fine day sir.Ditto for me! :thumb: Besides, the point has been hammered home enough...and it's gonna happen anyway, like it or not.
March 30, 201016 yr I am refusing to take any more test in my masters classes because I am not going to look anything up, the answers should be right beside the questions. My quality of life depends on me getting the masters so I can teach and make money for my child to be able to not be poor.
March 30, 201016 yr How about we get back to the idea that we are each responsible for ourselves, including what we stuff in our mouths? That's why we want the information. It isn't being put up there for the irresponsible people. It's being put there for those who actually are responsible.
March 30, 201016 yr I do not believe in those as well. If the producer of the product wants to do it, that is up to them. Ignorance is Bliss . Lets go back to the conditions as they were described in Upton Sinclairs "The Jungle " .
March 30, 201016 yr As a diabetic I read that information carefully concerning the Carbs and sugars contained in the processed foods that I buy . Very helpful . I wouldn't have as big a problem with this if that info were to be included but my understanding is it will just be the calorie count. Like I said in a previous post that info is pretty much useless with out the macronutrient info as well. And all of that will not fit on the menu. Which takes us back to either it being put on a poster hung on the wall, in a brochure available at the store, or on the resturants website which is where MOST resturants have it.
March 30, 201016 yr Apples to oranges, my friend. A bright person like you should be able to figure that one out on your own. Too many say that ONLY what is in the constitution is permitted. How does this apply to road signs? It's not an apple/orange comparison.
March 30, 201016 yr Point is, it shouldn't one cent, right? Isn't that what we were promised? The point is that it's not about the money. That's a smoke screen. I can respect an on-principle stand, that government shouldn't mandate this benign policy. I don't agree with it, but I can respect it. However, I can't stomach this "it's going to cost so much" mantra. As Rockmom stated, these establishments change their signs frequently enough that it won't be an issue of money.

I'm sure that restaurant chains will figure out how to present this information in a cogent manner .
March 30, 201016 yr BTW, I don't think it's proposed, I think it's law, isn't it? Yes. Bad choice of words on my part. :thumb:
March 30, 201016 yr Author Anyone want to tell me what this has to do with health insurance reform to begin with? Why was it in the bill since it had nothing to do with health insurance reform? This is more bothersome to me, actually. This and the the other bit of pork in the bill that had to do with student loans and the government, something else that's not the government's place.

I definitely don't understand the student loan issue. I personally have more of an issue with that than I do with this, because at least this issue has to do with health.
March 30, 201016 yr Author I definitely don't understand the student loan issue. I personally have more of an issue with that than I do with this, because at least this issue has to do with health.I get your point, but this law is really about health insurance reform, not health care reform, so I don't see where it fits in. Just my perspective.
March 30, 201016 yr I get your point, but this law is really about health insurance reform, not health care reform, so I don't see where it fits in. Just my perspective. Actually, it's about health care reform, and one component that is applicable is requiring that a tiny change be made on menus of restaurants, in that the caloric count is listed. I agree with woodsrider that it's not enough information to be fully informed, but it's definitely a baby step in the right direction, IMO.
