But looking for some new ones that are not just selling things especially overpriced candy bars or wrapping paper.

 

(The best selling one that I have done in awhile is Avon. A good number of customers are going to buy Avon from someone, why not the team. Our lady gives us 45% of whatever we sell. We don't do it door-to-door, just hit the people in your life that already buy Avon.)

 

So, what are some HS fundraisers that you guys know about that are successful.

It is for a charity but the Highlands football team hires themselves out to do spring cleaning. Yard work, painting, or whatever you need done. They do it on a Saturday. You call, tell the coach how many you need, and they will come to your house and help. It is for a donation to the charity choosen that year. It usually raises a couple thousand dollars. I think last year it was somewhere between $5,000 and $8,000.

 

 

Also the soccer team sell mulch in the spring.

This one is a great idea. I know a team that raised $8500 last year doing this.

We cook Boston Butts and Chickens. We usually make 1500-2000 and only working for a few hours. Money made depends on how hard the players work on selling them. They are a easy sell.

I host an off-season tournament or two to help fund the season. I have worked UK football parking, sold about everything, car washes, you name it... To be a high school coach you need be able to raise money, sometimes I feel like the blind man standing on the corner selling pencils out of a cup...

Have done the cups during basketball games.

 

Also, teamed with a local convenience store to sell mugs with our school mascot on them that you could take into the store for a refill of coffee or soft drink.

 

That worked well.

Our basketball coach has set up a fairly popular after school snack shop. He sells pizza, candy, cookies, Gatorade, etc. Kids will stop there on their way out of school and those that have to go to a sports event will also stop there to get something to eat. It's a few minutes every day, but it's earned quite a bit over the year that he has been doing it.

That is a great idea in a rural county. We always have kids who don't drive trying to find ways to the local McDonald's that is a couple miles away.

I always liked -athons.

 

Free throwathons while doing basketball.

Puttingathons for golf.

 

It is 100% profit, players are working on a vital part of the game and no one is buying overpriced items. Many times those who donate, donate a straight amount. $5.00 or so. Get that done 20 times and easy $100.

 

Football could do it with their placekicker. 100 kicks from the 20 yard line.

Baseball could have each player hit 100 pitches off a pitching machine. How many hit fair.

Volleyball 100 serves. How many in.

HHS Baseball sells brooms door to door..

Here in Louisville at Applebees they will do a Pancake Breakfast on a Saturday Morning. Everyone likes pancakes and its all you can eat for like $5.00, I've been to a couple but see them all the time. man, I need a pancake with strawberry syrup!. :ylsuper:

A spaghetti dinner combined with a silent auction. It's usually easy to get all of the meal - spaghetti, sauce, garlic bread, salad - donated for free. Players' parents make the desserts. Tickets for $8 or $10 isn't overpriced because you are giving them something of value for their money. Maybe not $10 worth in food, but they shouldn't expect such knowing it's a fundraiser. If you can come up with a couple of silent auction items - signed memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, round of golf, sports tix, even a split-the-pot - it makes for a fun evening. And the larger the crowd, the better the silent auction.

 

My brother's 12-year old baseball team held one a month or so ago and made $4000 in one night.
