What's changed since 93?

Why did an overwealming majority of Democrats vote to approve military force in Iraq then shift their stance and slam Bush for doing what they gave their approval to do?

Hypocrisy is rampant on both sides of the aisle. The difference is in 1993 there were enough with the good judgement to vote for neither option presented.

I understand and you are correct. That was effectively my point - that it isn't really what you think is best, but rather what you are told to do to stay within the company line, typically in an effort to get re-elected. And that's the entire political problem in a nutshell.

How would these Republicans have voted if George W. Bush had proposed the exact same plan in 2006? Just curious.
How could I possibly know that? I would hope they would have said no.

Read my previous post, though. It stated that most simply vote on company line, not necessarily by what they think is right. It just so happens that the proposal was Democratic and there were more Democrats to vote, so it passed. Just as in the past when the proposal is Republicans and there are more Republicans, then it passes. It seems to rarely have anything to do with whether something is good or bad for the country, although those against it at the time will always state how bad it is.

I don't argue this, I agree. But 6 people from '93 isn't exactly a worrisome thing for me today.

Because they and the country were lied to by the Bush administration . Just like in the Gulf of Tonkin incident by the Johnson administration

They were not "lied to".. They had the same intelligence info supplied to them that was supplied to the President by the democrat lead security commission.. :ohbrother:

Yep, but that doesn't seem to matter to some.

Simply not true. To suggest that members of congress get the same information as the President is just plain silly.

Wrong again Ace... Pelosi was on that Committee and AGREED with the info.. Look it up...

Oh my goodness these "socialist" republicans actually proposed taking freedoms away and forcing people to purchase a product from a private industry. We were almost goose stepping in the streets. They must have been RINO's.:D

At what point does goose stepping correlate with a socialist agenda, since fascism is on the far right of the political system?:D

His question was not really answered. He was asking why the republicans shifted their support. That was never answered.

It seems, with my limited experience in this forum, that there are many posters who avoid answering direct questions.:sssh:
