On this law the Obama administration did what it said it would do, except that the law is much more moderate than what he said during the campaign. I repeat. every time someone makes up something about this law that just isn't there, it leads me to the conclusion that they can't do any better in finding fault.

If an individual member of congress didn't know what was in the bill, shame on them. But I think you may be right, From what I heard of the debate, many of the people speaking against the bill had NO clue what was in it. They just heard Glenn Beck say it was a government takeover, baby killing bill, and that was good enough for them.

I'm sure there are many against the bill that don't know what's in it, I can understand why. The mistakes that are in the bill show that those in Congress and the House that voted for it didn't read it and didn't understand it. It's also quite clear that Obama signed it without understanding what was in it. This worries me and should you and all Americans.

If you couldn't afford health insurance and couldn't pay the doctors and hospitals directly, what would you do? Not get the treatment? Bankrupt the bills?

 

I would sacerfice as much as I could. I mean if you cut out the cable tv, coupon, get rid of a home phone, and find free things to do rather than pay you can cut out A LOT of money each year. To me it is essential to have health care. I would not go looking for handouts. Like someone said on here there ARE affordable plans. I have been in plenty of situations (from my career) where people buy every new pair of shoes that cost them $140. Then they will buy a new car, and buy big expensive things, ie TVs, computers and I could go on on credit cards. They will drop $300 on a purse and another $400 on clothes in ONE DAY. I mean you have to have priorities. For example, I have no sympathy what so ever for people who took out a variable interest on their home then complain about it when their mortgage payment triples. They knew exactly what they are doing and so do these people who are being irresponsible. I have no problem helping a family out who both are working jobs and have children and they still cannot afford health insurance but I DO have a problem for those people and it is lot more than most people think, who do nothing to help themselves and keep having children. Call me not American, I have no problem with that, I have people tell me that all the time on the left. Most people think on here from my answers on here I am a democrat but I am not. I am an independent who can think for themselves and make my own judgement. This country is broke and we are going to become more broke.

No, that isn't what I said. What I observed from watching the debate is that those against the bill either didn't know what was in it or they just chose to repeat the lies. If you want to read offensive, check your own posts.

I guess I need to read the bill in it's entirety, memorize it and learn every aspect of it. That way I can support it. WOW!

I have not read the entire bill, so it is quite possible that someone could surprise me with something. When a charge is made about the law, such as the one about mandated tests that started me down this road, I try to find out what is really in the law. If it is something I am particularly interested in, such as the abortioN language, I go to the text and find outfit myself.

Ironically, the care that you mention people like in Medicare is provided by Doctors looking for a nice living because of a making a profit.

 

If you remove the carrot of a nice lifestyle because of the salaries they make from becoming a doctor, than you remove the best and the brightest from pursuing the field of medicine.

 

So, instead of the top of the HS class pursuing becoming a doctor, you get the #30 person in class ranking.

 

In the short term you view has some merits. Until you look at the long term effects that would result in what you propose.

I'm certainly not saying that doctors don't deserve to make a very nice living, just that perhaps some of them are being characterized as profit seeking individuals instead of ones that care to make a difference in the health of people.

We are both teachers.

 

There are some of us who are teachers knowing that we are not going to get rich.

 

But if our salaries were doubled (not saying I am proposing that but I wouldn't reject it either:D), how many more of those that could be GREAT teachers would get into the field of teaching rather than a field, O I don't know, let's say, being a doctor?
