Has the Rhetoric Gone Too Far?

First, let me say that I, in no way believe that the leaders of any party are purposefully inciting groups to react with violence.

That said, this act has me concerned that the vitriolic acts of our leadership have inspired others to respond with "over the line" tactics.

Tom Perrillo was the target, but his brother was the one whose address was posted and whose gas line was severed. They were alerted when they smelled gas in the area of their screened in porch.

The Associated Press reported Tea Party activists, upset with Rep. Perriello’s vote on health care reform legislation, posted online what they thought was his home address, but it was his brother’s, “telling opponents to drop by and ‘express their thanks’ for his vote.”

Other published reports stated that an official with the Danville Tea Party and a member of the Lynchburg Tea Party posted Bo Perriello’s home address online. Neither of the Tea Party members could be reached Wednesday.

I think the heat needs to be turned down on both sides of the aisle or something catastrophic may happen.

Posting home addresses of Congressmen and their families is inexcuseable.

I enjoyed what 19 News in Cincinnati did last night. A local fax newsletter called the Whistleblower that prints political gossip printed the home address of Congressman Dreihaus and encouraged people to go to his home on Sunday to protest. The Whistleblower prides itself on its anonymity. Fox 19 News covered the story and sent a reporter to the home of the person who publishes the Whistleblower. It was funny watching the lady who answered the door telling the reporter no comment and go away. What's good for the goose ....

That's pretty funny, wish I had seen it.

That might be the answer.

I assume you did not like it when ACORN and SEIU sent busloads pf people to the homes of some of the leaders of banks that received bailout money. It is all wrong, but what some of those did the other day was individual stupidity, while the left organized their hatred.

I agree the problem is on both sides.

But to dismiss the Perrillo as individual stupidity is not necessarily unorganized. Afterall two local Tea Party members posted this address and 'encouraged' fellow viewers to "stop by." While I don't know that their intention was what transpired, there was organized dissemination of information. (although it was the wrong address)

Glad to see we agree on this one. :thumb:

Addresses are public record. While I in no way shape or form condone vandalism or violence I have more then a little trouble feeling to much sympathy for any member of congress.

Problem is that it was NOT Tom Perrillo's house that was vandalized. It was his brother. The two idiots who posted the address got it wrong and posted HIS BROTHER'S address. So I guess it's hard to feel sympathy for the family members of Congressmen as well?

That's not what I said at all and you know it. Am I sorry that members of congress are feeling heat because of the way they voted? Not one bit. Am I sorry that this brother got caught in the crossfire. Yes.

So if it had been the congressman who had his gas line cut that would have been okay? Just so I get the full gist.:scared:

All of the hand wringing and boo-hooing by the libs/Dems befuddles me. The left wrote the book on this stuff. When jihadists raise their ugy head, we are told by the left the we should " understand their rage and hatred and try to figure out why they hate us". C'mon folks, give me a break. The more uncomfortable the Dems are, the better as far I'm concerned. Get your collective heads out of the sand and wake up.

REALLY???!! This is your response.

You make people in Congress uncomfortable at the ballot box, not by threatening their children and calling them and telling them you are going to kill them.

Anonymous phone threats is terrorism. Faxes with a noose on them - terrorism.

The Radical Right has become what they abhor.

Yeah, because we all know no one on the left ever does that garbage. You really make me laugh Ace. You're so pro-everything liberal it's not even fun discussing things with you anymore.

I do not remember your hand wringing when President G.W. Bush was being hanged in effigy, when plays and books were written about President G.W. Bush assassination, Black Panther intimiation at election polls, etc.... I am also smart enough to know that the left as been known to stage the threats you speak of to create their own victimhood. As far as the ballot box goes, I suspect the Dems will be made very uncomfortable, unless President Obama and the Dems push through Amnesty for illegal aliens.

Ace, the utopia you seek already exists in places like Cuba and Venezuela.
