Of course this garbage is wrong. But somehow I missed the uproar when Bunning was threatened a couple weeks ago. Can someone direct me to that thread?

 

To say one side is more apt to pull this stuff than the other simply goes against fact. Both sides have their radical fringes who are dangerous in my opinion. It just seems to me there is more of an uproar when it happens to one side.

 

I agree with you except for the bold. I don't think there is more of an uproar on one side or the other either. When people do stupid things, there is an uproar. Bunning picks a bad time to make a statement, uproar. Biden picks a bad time to drop an F bomb, uproar. Radical right wingers go over the edge in their attacks on Congressmen, uproar. Acorn goes over the edge in their actions, uproar. Dare I say the uproars in the face of stupidity are ... fair and balanced?

I had no trouble burning Bush in effigy. There were times I felt like doing it, too. Burning in effigy has been a form of protest since the times of Ben Franklin, when the Bush issue arose I posted an old clip from the paper in like 1805 where it was being done and decried at that time.

 

I also have no trouble posting addresses of congressman or their families on Facebook. There is nothing confidential or privileged about those addresses. When you hold office, you expose yourself and your family to a higher standard of publicity, if you don't understand why, read New York Times v. Sullivan.

 

If people made threats of violence or committed an act of violence, arrest them and prosecute them.

 

When government officials get so comfortable, on either side, that they are willing to ignore their constituents and do whatever they please, the only way to get them to think twice about it is to make them feel uncomfortable. I've got no trouble with that at all.

Please tell me one positive thing that can happen by posting addresses publicly. It can only be interpreted as a threat and attempt at intimidation. There are many other ways to protest without giving the car keys to the drunkards. I have lost respect for the Tea Party movement because of their recent actions.

 

The addresses are already public knowledge. You seem to be missing that part.

I like listening to Mike McConnel and his theory is that radical and immature behavior is expected from the left so it's not as big a story when it happens that way. As you can imagine he makes a lot of people happy with that opinion.

So where were you when Bunning was threatened, condemning those actions?
