Anyone Watch "Justified" Which is Set in Harlan?

Featured Replies

FX has a new show about a federal marshall from KY who gets sent back to KY against his wishes. Its set in Harlan. Solid first show but I can imagine some EKY folks aren't happy with the portrayal.

A few of the characters are a little over the top, but I think I'll watch every episode. I'll give it :thumb::thumb: for now.

I don't think it portrayed EKY folks in a bad way. It portrayed Nazi Rednecks in a bad way. Anyone not from that area should know that not all people are like the bad guys in this show.

Agreed but that doesn't mean that some/many who already have the incorrect stereotype will not have it reinforced.

Seriously, are there any Nazi Rednecks in Eastern KY, cause I've lived here my whole life, and I've yet to see any.

I'm sure there are a few. They are all over the nation. They may not be as wild as the ones in this show though.

Now there is KKK rednecks, but I don't know any Nazi...

I'm pretty sure there is a Nazi type compound near Dawson Springs, but thats WKY

There are some very bad "actors" in KY and I think it is Dawson Springs like Rocket mentioned.

I am through about half the show. I like Shane from The Shield as an actor but the crime scenes are beyond stupid and would have them getting caught ten times over. In other words, the show has potential in my mind but the crime scenes are poorly executed.

I won't rule it out as impossible, but if it's so, they are extremely quiet.

I agree about the crime scenes, but how about that blonde chick? Can you say HOT????

It's the headquarters for the Imperial Klans of America. I saw an episode of "Gangland" about this group. Apparently the people at The History Channel don't know much about the geography of Kentucky, as the repeatedly made mention of the groups compound just outside of Louisville.

As Harry Doyle would say "Just a bit outside."

First reference to people sleeping with their cousin. "It's not like we're first cousins."

I'm of a mind to drop it on the spot.

much like UK Basketball, it really doesn't matter what we do, people are still going to have the same opinion. Who cares really?
