There's not a lot of them around, and there may not be any "official" gangs in Kentucky, but there are probably a few wannabe's around.

 

Here is an example of a neo-Nazi group in the U.S. It's based out of Oregon but has chapters in many states across the nation. They pretend to be a law abiding group who simply support white progress, but they are extremely violent. I saw a "Gangland" episode about them once and it was very interesting.

There are some very bad "actors" in KY and I think it is Dawson Springs like Rocket mentioned.

 

I am through about half the show. I like Shane from The Shield as an actor but the crime scenes are beyond stupid and would have them getting caught ten times over. In other words, the show has potential in my mind but the crime scenes are poorly executed.

 

I agree that some of the scenes are a little too crazy.

 

I thought the first episode was much better than episode #2. Tonights episode was garbage IMO.

 

I'll keep watching because I like Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant, but they better start writing some better episodes than what was on tonight or they won't keep me around much longer.

 

I don't mind the things like the two cousins being in a sexual relationship. Mainly because those things DO happen in this state. It's not like they are making it up.

My parents are from SE KY. Mom is from Harlan,dad is from Knox Co. I have been there many times to visit relatives. Lots of people have ask me about what goes on down there over the years. I tell them that if a person goes down there and is polite and respectful to the folks they will be treated very well,maybe overwhelmed by the hospitality. If a person shows disrespect or treats the good folks as backward hillbillies they may leave in a box. They are wary of strangers because often strangers are trouble and up to no good. If I had my way I would live there and be buried on Black Mountain. Amen.

I've been on Black Mtn. several times! SE Ky to me is an amazing place. I think the people are the nicest people in the world in general. Don't get me wrong there are bad people too. But its a great place to live. People in my community are like one big family really.

 

As for the show the one thing that bothes me is that it does not show enough mountain scenery. You don't get a true idea of what it looks like. I know its not going to be 100% accurate, and its fiction and don't have to be. I like the show.

I know the show is more about entertainment than being accurate with the information about Kentucky. It would just make me feel better to see some more mountains in the background!

I thought the option was limited to sales in restaurants. Why did Ava drive an hour and a half to Corbin, when Cumberland is less than 30 minutes away?

I look forward to next season as well. Corbin has establishments that serve food as well. Raylan sort of takes me back to Clint Eastwood 30 years ago.

Seems like I read somewhere that it's filmed out west. Not 100% sure on that though.

The show makes you think that harlan/Corbin are about 15-20 minutes away from lexington. :lol: I thought the show got a little better towards the end...

I just watched season finale on DVR last night, pretty cool ending. They killed a lot of the bad guys, makes you wonder about next season.

My wife said that they announced on "E" television that the show had been picked up for next year...we can't wait.
