How did Wake Forest and Florida get in?

Featured Replies

Notice, I said "don't get mad at me" I was just sayin what the MSU fans are saying and how they feel about NCAA/NIT, how would you feel?

The Cousins putback was a great call, MSU had a chance to get the rebound.

Not mad at all Larry. Just pointing out that anyone can and does say that after a loss. (i.e. see UK fans. :D)

Computers need to pick the field.

A combination like used in the BCS.

Go look at Massey's Comparison page here - http://www.masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htm

Makes you wonder if they used that exact model.................

Who cares? It's like Jay Bilas said, why do we always gripe about the last couple teams in and the first couple left out? It's not like any of them are going to have a chance at actually winning, so why does it matter? They won't be around after the 1st weekend anyways.

I heard that. I guess there is precedent though.

Many felt in 1983 that NC State DID NOT deserve to be in the field and barely made it.

The same was true with Villanova in 1985.

Maybe because it's been 25 years that people forgot.

Bingo. Take care of business, don't lose to Ryder at home and you won't be crying about what if.

Yeah. The first 4 or 5 teams would have rightfully gone to Kentucky in that rating system. But if they did use a similar system, Kentucky would have had the 4th overall #1 seed. :idunno:

Nor would have George Mason made it to the FF.............

Will there still be these arguments when and if they expand the field to 96 teams?

Check the selection committee and who represented the SEC, while the other 5 "power conferences" (Big 10 & ACC who got in very questionable teams ahead of MSU) all had reps--Coincidence??

Here's a list of the committee. I count 5 reps from the non-BCS schools.

So what's the issue?

Will there still be these arguments when and if they expand the field to 96 teams?

If the field was at 96 this year, here are some examples of arguments that we might be experiencing.............

1. North Carolina should not be a #22 seed and playing in Greensboro.

2. Alabama's big win over South Carolina should get them in over the Gamecocks.

3. Is it fair that Duke does not have to play a top 25 team until the Final 4?

4. Should the Big East really have the whole conference in the field?

5. Does there really still need to be a play in game?

 The biggest reason this is funny is because it's probably true.

In a word, yes.

It matters to the last team in and the players that get the experience of playing in the tournament and the fans whose team is there. Plus the exposure is good for the school and the basketball program. This is particularly true for the "mid-major" type of program. It is an opportunity for the school to get on the map. The tournament can then be summarized for those who actually have a realistic chance to win, and those with a chance to play a game and hopefully pull off an upset or two. For me, the fun is in watching the latter, because I can see the former just about any night on television.

The loss to Tennessee at home during their serior night is what did State in.

Their only hope was to win the SEC Tounnament, which they could not.
