UKMustangFan Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 RM's comment about Sean Penn (who I find terribly overrated), got me thinking about this... Who are your best actors and actresses of the generation, and by that, let's limit this to those in the 30-50 range that RM mentioned....
mcpapa Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Off the top of my head, Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey. Not sure if they fall in the 30-50 demographic, though.
UKMustangFan Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 I'll keep my list as condensed as possible.... Best actors: Leonardo DiCaprio Daniel Day-Lewis Christian Bale Don Cheadle Best actresses: Nicole Kidman Sandra Bullock Hilary Swank Naomi Watts
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I know a lot of you aren't a huge fan of his character, but I don't think you can create a list without... Mel Gibson He has some huge movies like Braveheart, The Patriot, some of the most successful series of movies with Mad Max, Lethal Weapons. Some other great movies like We Were Soldiers, Signs, and etc. And lastly to show even more that he does it across generations, he was the voice in one of the top Disney movies, Pocohontas. I feel like you have to throw Will Smith's name in the mix as well. As for actresses... Julia Roberts!
UKMustangFan Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 ^My beef with those three, albeit a much lesser extent with Will Smith, is that every movie they seem to play the same role over and over again. I think their range is extremely limited. JMO.

Pretty good movies where Mel Gibson isn't the psychotic guy trying to kill people... Conspiracy Theory Signs What Women Want Maverick Man Without a Face Chicken Run & Pocohontas And the fact that he is in two of the top movies of our generation, Braveheart and The Patriot (both in my opinion), I believe that the list will not be complete without his name being mentioned.
The Great Game Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 With the age limit put on: Tom Hanks Denzel Washington Russel Crowe Jodi Foster...no one even close in that age range

I think their range is extremely limited. JMO. Will Smith has began to do movies much different than what he was originally doing. I thought he did a very good job in Ali, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Seven Pounds. Mel Gibson...I don't like so much.

Watusi Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 The king and queen of this age group in my opinion is Don Cheadle and Jodi Foster.

That's why I said Smith to a lesser extent because he has been attempting movies that aren't his normal role. :thumb:
