Of course it's more than the stats, other things such as being a leader and unselfishness should play into it as well.

It's strange that the preseason favorites of Ricardo Johnson, Elijah Pittman and Ge'Lawn Guyn have faded to the background, while Elisha Justice, Josh Sewell and Jarrod Polson have taken the lead in the Mr. Basketball race.

I heard Transylvania might be in the hunt. Add Polson to the recruiting

class last year and the Pioneers are on track to go deep in the NCAA D3 tourny.

 

If a kid is a good college prospect ,why wouldn't he go to a school that offers athletic scholarships?

Watts was very deserving of the POY! Polson is a great player and well deserving also of any awards he may receive, but I believe Watts deserved it.

 

After reading my post I didn't mean for it to come off like it did. Watts is a tremendous player that I enjoyed watching as well. Any info on his college choice as well as sport he will play at the next level?

Someone like Polson, and I am sure some others this year too, are very intelligent, and can go on a academic scholarship. Plus, it depends on what the kid wants to do, does he want to go far away form home? And what career is the player looking to get into?

Yes, they can help. These types of colleges can be as much as 30,000 a year just be for tuition, so even with aid and academic scholarship, some students will still have a considerable expense. Those two are good schools. A lot depends on affordability as to the players who end up playing at schools like this. This is not to say they aren't good players, however.

I agree with you that affordabilty comes into play. To me academic fit and goals beyond basketball mean alot as very few will make a living playing ball.
