I think Wright is actually from Boone County. I know he was the head coach at Walton for a while. His father owned a restaurant/club in Covington and then opened one in the Walton area. So Wright is from the Northern Kentucky area but not specifically Grant County. But he has been gone for probably 20 years and why would he leave his current job for Grant County?

 

More than likely he won't come back to the Northern Ky area...like i said though....you never know. Steve's cousin, Kevin Wright, was startin PG for that '79 team that won the Region. Kevin still lives around the Grant County area. Grant County likes to hire its coaches that can work for the school district....if that wasn't the case, i would say Kevin would be an excellent choice for Head Coach!!!

Actually, I think that's a written policy. The boys head basketball coach and head football coaches MUST be employees of the school district. They don't necessarily have to be teachers at the high school level, but they do have to be part of the system. But now, they can't be administrators...which is why Ron Kinmon had to step down in the first place.

If it's a state mandate, then Williamstown has been in violation for the past 3 years! Their HC is a state cop during the day!! So, based upon that, I'm assuming that each district has their own policy.

True, example: Mike Code at Brossart is a teacher at Highlands.

Most public school districts, at least the larger sized ones with multiple high schools (ex. Fayette Co.) usually have some policy requiring head coaches for certain sports to be employees of the school system. As far as the state goes, its the degree that matters.

I thought it was the number of hours you had to have to be able to coach. I thought it was 64 hours and 21 years old and that is the minimum.

From what I was told, Ron could not take the job he applied for at the board office (and has gotten) and still remain the boys basketball coach. Therefore a decision had to be made...turn down the job and keep coaching...or accept the job and step down as head coach.

True as far as getting a job at the board office. But he was already an administrator. He was the principal of the Alternative School. In order to become director of transportation he had to give up coaching, but you can indeed be an administrator and a coach; just npt the director of transportation.I was just making sure you knew that it was the new transportation position and not simply being an administrator. He's been an admin since 2007.

I don't think Jon jones wants it. I don;t think he wants to coach for much longer. He's nearing his 27 years and probably wants to buff up his retirement by going into administration.
