To be fair, some churches have so many people that you don't really know who is new and who isn't.

 

IE: Southeast Christian. Although, they do have new peeps programs.

 

I have visited their church a few times and talked to some people that attend.

 

One of the interesting things that I am told occurs, each section becomes almost like a church among themselves. Weekly they usually find the same people at the same services sitting in the same section.

 

So, even though they might have 18,000, each section knows where there is a visitor sitting in their section and they welcome them.

 

And if it is someone that has been attending the church, they still introduce themselves and meet a member of their church.

I forgot to respond to Col Crazy on his comment. Yes, I was a stranger in their presence, but I was in their home Church. Where like I have stated you show people you are glad that are at your home.

 

I will visit another Baptist church this Saturday.

AL: I would say you are the exception rather than the rule in wanting to be greeted and welcomed as a guest at church. My experience has been that extroverted people who grew up in the church would share this expectation. However, I think most people who are new to church (not just that particular church, but new to church) would rather be anonymous, checking out the people and the experience, before connecting with anyone.

Hot, that is a fair statement. Everyone is different. My wife wouldn't want folks to come around, me I would have preached a sermon if they let me. :jump:

I agree.

Am fairly gregarious and outgoing... but most churches I'd be very pleased with a polite nod of the head and a smile. If I'm merely auditing the experience, I don't particularly desire full engagement from the members... unless I happen to know them. :thumb:

Thats all I'm saying^^^, "hey glad to see you". Maybe 5 seconds....As I visit other churches I'll post how they treat a visitor, and I'll visit this church again.

 

Not sure if I added this, I have recieved a call from the Children's Minister and an in home visit yesterday from the church, so they are doing some things I like.

So AL are you visiting churches just to visit or are you searching for a new church to start attending? Just wondering...

I believe we are searching for a new church home (on earth for ladies). My wife is still teaching (SS) so it might be a while. I also will visit on Wednesday/Sunday nites, there you have you core members.

 

I have called a few churches to get info, and they haven't returned my calls, talkin about Sad. I just leave my first name so they don't know me. :idunno:

Visited another Baptist Church on Wednesday nite. It is a lot smaller than the one I first went to. I went in and sat down in the back and around 12 people came up and greeted me, so I guess some Churches still do this.

 

Had a real nice time and will visit again, but it might be to small. I tried to call the church all week and no one is there to respond to the phone.

 

I can probaby nitpick every church and hope I don't turn out this way, just sharing my comments. There is no perfect church, but there is one that will be the best fit for my family.

Another Church on Sunday, went to the Sunday School class everyone came over and said hello, Preacher told me he was a huge Auburn fan, and then I told him who I was. Wish I had a camera...:jump:
