Sometimes I take a break from my Church and will visit another one. I go by myself.

 

The one I picked is a little out of my way from my neighborhood and I didn't see one person I knew. It is a Baptist Church. I had a nice time and the preacher did a great job, the singing had no choir but the people playing instruments knew what they were doing.

 

It was a nice mixture of Race.

 

In the Sunday School it was coed of folks in their late 40s/early 50s. The teacher was very good, BUT only one person spoke to me and the teacher said Hi but didn't introduce me as a guest.

 

In the service when they greeted each other only 3 people came by and said Hi. This bothered me.

 

After service I stood around and wanted to speak to a guy I had called early in the week about coming to the Church. Several men came up with him and they were real nice and we talked a bit. They asked me "what do you think of our church?"

 

I said..."I'm be very honest (the teacher was with them) and you asked, Y'all need to treat your guests as if you are happy they are visiting your church"...It was real weak in this reguard. If you are treating me like this then you are treating your other guests like this and you need to fix this and its very fixable".

 

Jesus tells us to LOVE each other and calls it his greatest commandment.

 

I said.."it would only take seconds to reach out to a new person and it will make a huge difference.

 

Next time you are at a service find someone you don't know and know them.

 

And no one knew who I was or that I'm an Alabama Fan so don't give me that stuff. :jump:

Why don't you visit your local Catholic Parish ?

^^^I've been in several Catholic weddings, but will never go to worship at one. I disagree with several things my church does, the Catholic Church has a great tradition Religion but I disagree with even more than my church, which explains why I go where I go. There is no perfect Church/Religion, not even close.

Yeah they are dangerous . I married a girl that was raised both a Baptist and a Catholic baptized in both . She was Baptist until she started Catholic School and has been a Catholic since then . Father was a Baptist ,Mother was a Catholic , neither practiced their faith nor do her sister or brother just my wife . Led to some interesting conversations .

The comment about people greeting a new comer to church.

 

To me this is huge. I sit near the back in my church due to the speakers are better and most new comers sit in the back. When I see a new face I will greet them and try to make them feel we really care they chose our church this morning.

 

Its human nature to have people greet you in a strange place and the feeling you get. Its a nice one. In Heaven there are no Catholics/Baptists/Church of Christ/Black/White, just followers of Jesus.

 

 

Jesus talks about the greatest Commandment being, Loving each other and I believe he had this one right.

One thing that's always bugged me about parishoners at the Catholic chuches I've gone to is that they don't really make an effort to greet newbies. Some parishes will do a "greet your neighbor" before Mass starts but most do not. Afterwards, its a rush to the parking lot.

 

Other religions may do that as well but I only have experience in the Catholic churches.

Clyde, not sure of the Catholic church, but in the Baptist/Christian we have Sunday School time or Bible Study groups some churches call them now. There are just a small amount of folks in there 20 or below.

To be fair, some churches have so many people that you don't really know who is new and who isn't.
