Great Game Eagles, Coach Fromayer and Staff!!!

The star of the game to me at least, was the Scott Freshmen Coach Steve Fromeyer, who IMHO will not be at Scott next year. He is far too good of a coach to stay and coach a freshmen team. I look for Coach Fromeyer to be a JV coach at a bigger school, or a Head Coach at a smaller school next year.

 

Steve Frommeyer is an excellent freshmen coach, and Scott is very lucky to have him. He has been the freshmen coach there for many years, but has not always had the talent to compete at the top level until this year. His teams are always fundamentally sound and overachieving. He exudes confidence, always has a great game plan, and puts his teams in a position to win.

 

Steve has always had the qualifications to be a "JV coach at a bigger school, or a head coach at a smaller school." I doubt that winning the NoKy Freshmen championship will have him running for the front door at Scott High School. Sometimes loyalty and commitment to a program are more important than personal notoriety. Others may now seek him out, but Steve Frommeyer is the same coach today that he has been for the last five or more years. This team provided him the opportunity to showcase his talents on the grand stage, and others have now observed what many of us have known for years.

About what I expected.. Nick Jackson made me look good, with my statement as him being the best player to play freshman ball this year. The kid is a beast.

The illegal screen on Holmes towards the end of the game was the best call of the night. That was such an easy call to make. Devin would have called that on Scott if it were reversed- no doubt in my mind. Enough about the relationship between Steve and Devin. Devin is a very good freshmen official and Steve is a great coach. Congratulations Eagles- you earned it!

By the way, Nick Jackson was unstoppable. Kid can really play. 21 and 10 against Holmes front court is an amazing stat.

I think anyone who has been around the Scott program and those who follow high school basketball at the frosh level have always known Coach Fromeyer to be an outstanding coach. As Mustang has stated there just hasn't been a lot of talent coming thru the pipeline at Scott to showcase his coaching abilities with winning seasons.

 

In my opinion what he does best is put in the building blocks and teaches the toughness that kids who want to get better will use in the Scott program. This allows these kids who might have only won 7-8 games as freshmen at Scott to be winning 15-20 games on the varsity level and competing for district & regional championships 2-3 years down the road.

I believe the officials did not determine the game holmes was up 8 points with less than 3 minutes in the game and washed the lead away. And the personal relationship with the scott coach comment is just an excuse to blame someone for why they lost.

 

I second that... Scott became a different team when they went down 8 with 3 to go... Holmes continued to miss free-throws... Scott came to play till the whistle blew. Especially after losing to Holmes a couple weeks ago by 20 plus.

Congratulations to Scott Players, Coaches and Parents for a great season... I'm glad we chose Scott... I'm a Bulldog alumni and was very proud of how the Eagles never quit.

Congrats to the Bulldogs and Eagles on outstanding seasons! Holmes has an unreal freshman team, and Coach Kaiser did an amazing job last night! I think everyone knew what Scott was capable of doing, and last night was a fun game to watch. Nick Jackson had his third double-double of the tournament, and if there were an MVP, he would be it. Congrats to the Eagles, and to the Bulldogs. Great game.

Holmes lead the entire game. Scott made some great 3s throughout the game to keep it close. Jackson was very good. Scott executed very well at the end of the game.

 

Englemon and Peterson fouling out before OT killed holmes. I have to admit the refs blew the 5th foul call on Peterson. The ref was standing at a bad angle and called a pushing foul but peterson never touched him. I was sitting were you could see there was no contact. You hate to see it but the ref made a bad call...it happens. The double drill call was pretty bad too. Refs had a bad game. Coaches won't admit it. But refs don't lose the game. Holmes were given their chances to win. Scott threw the ball away a few times. Holmes missed to many FTs.

 

Frommeyer did a great job of keeping his team calm. Also, Holmes could have imploded after some of those calls at the end but they hung in there. Kaiser should be commended for that. His boys look good.

That is very impressive, Nick True the 6'4 8th grader from Highlands had a double double against the Dogs earlier in the year as well.

I predicted Holmes would take care of business in this one but was wrong. They didnt take care of business if they shot 46% from the FT line.

 

Fromeyer is a very good coach and he takes his job very seriously with the Blazer and Khakis in the opening game.

 

That is a nice bunch over at Scott and if they continue to work hard and buy into Coach Carr's program they will be contenders in the 10th Region over the next few years.

 

Holmes has a nice mix of players with Peterson/Englemon being the typical long athletic post players and Coston the tough physical guard who can get to the rack. Palmer is a nice shooter with a nice stroke and he plays under control.

 

Congrats to both teams for having outstanding years. Congrats to the Scott Eagle for winning the championship.
