Good win for the Colonels. I was not at the game, but from the box score it appears only 8 guys saw the floor, and Hudepohl was one of those and only for 1 minute. So, Coach L only played 7 guys??? I find this very interesting as he has been going the exact opposite almost all season, and now he goes to 7. With the injuries / sicknesses this team has / can have happen, guys need to be ready for districts. God forbid Max goes down and can't play against Holy Cross - - no one else will have played in a game for a long time. Anyone else see a potential concern here? I would have thought that the back-ups would have been seeing much more time in this game and this Friday's game.

Something else I noticed from the box score was that Cole only two took shots in 21 minutes of play. He has been the most aggressive outside shooter as of late, and in these games leading up to the tourney, why did he not shoot the ball more, get some confidence and get in a groove??? If I recall correctly Trevor and Jake did not have the biggest games against HC last time, so why did we not work on our outside game against SK last nite?? Again, I was not there and maybe I am way off on my thoughts, but looking at the stats......

Have seen games called by the 11th region, 10th region, 9th region and now the 8th region men in stripes and I know all the men in stripes use the same rule book but?

Now I have no complaints nor any problems with the stripes calling their games but since all the stripes are using the same rule book, it just stuns me to see how differently each regions calls walking, charge/block or better yet hand checks from region to region. :idunno::idunno:

I think it just shows that there is a huge shortage of good officials anywhere at this level. The guys who have played and know the sport from the inside just aren't willing to referee. Nothing against the guys that are but there are a lot of bad referees out there doing these games. I don't know the answers to making it better, maybe better training? I guess the finances will always come into play with this. I give the guys credit who are willing to do this sometimes thankless job because they do try to make the right calls but today's game is very physical and fast paced. I blame the 3 point shot for a lot of this and I truly wish they had never implemented it at this level, at least at the distance it is. It has taken low post play away and forces teams to play man to man which speeds the game up. Don't get me wrong on this as I hate strictly playing zone defense but it was neat to watch good coaches mix and match defenses as the game progressed. I could go on and on with this and maybe I should open a thread and see what others feel about the problem. Sorry for getting off on a tangent.

Riedenger, Robinson and Hudepohl each played for about a minute (or less). I do not recall any of them attempting a shot. Maschinot and Klein were among those who did not get in at all.

Ok, so maybe a couple more guys got in for a few seconds than are shown on the box that I saw as Austin is the only one of those three with anything in the minute column:

Either way, I still question this playing rotation and offensive game plan as the best way to get this team ready for district. I understand Trey needed to get minutes to get ready. Max has been playing very well as of late, but he also has a history of getting sick and run down. If that were to happen next week, we will be forced to play guys that maybe have not played but a minute or two for the last couple of weeks. Maybe Coach will play tomorrow night differently, but with it being Senior nite, I suspect that Mattie will get minutes, but the other guys won't.

Simon Kenton held to 20 points under their scoring average.

I am going to take a guess and say nearly all Cov Cath fans are UK fans. Because the only fans besides UK fans to complain more about coaching and players after a win are CCH fans.

Nice win for the Colonels. I think Coach L has done one of his better coaching jobs bringing this team into shape and getting the most out of the talent and skills this team's players have.

Yes I am a UK fan as well. I think however that we will have to agree to disagree on the bolded comment. I had been a pretty big fan of Coach L prior to this year. I have seen and heard too many things first hand this year that I have become very disappointed and lost respect. Yes last nite was a good win for the team, but was it a must Win - No The must win is next Wednesday nite against HC. Did Coach help the team get ready for next Wed's game last nite? IMO - No

A question on your comment above regarding Coach getting the most out of the players from this year - - Do you think that the team would have had more or less success with a different coach? I ask this because I have never seen a group of players outwardly disrespect a coach as much as this team has done the last few years. I truly believe that if the team respected the coach, they would have greater success. Do the Varsity guys play as hard for Coach L as the JV guys do for Coach Tranter? IMO the answer to that is obvious.

I am sorry for being the 'downer' Colonel fan today, but things have just gotten more and more clear to me as the year has progressed, and I guess least nite was just the proverbial straw that broke the camels back.

I think most of the Cov. Cath. fans posting on BGP are pretty supportive of Coach L. While I respectfully disagree with kinglouie's observations about Coach's performance this year, I agree with him that some (a very few actually) do more jawing to Coach and the refs than I would like to see.

I totally agree and understand that I am in the minority here now, and can say I was proudly on the other side not too long ago. I have just seen and heard too many things this year. Maybe the same things have been going on for much longer than I am aware. I do not know. But I was amazed of some of the things he has said this year to players - One example I can give you is his comment to one of the players after he was hurt in a JV game 'That is why I did not want you to play JV' Well - you are the coach - Don't play him JV. Don't make the young man feel worse about getting hurt in a JV game than he already does. The young man said 'Sorry coach' when he got hurt and the first thing Coach says is that? There were several people around when this exchange took place, so it was not like he did not want anybody to hear it. Again this is just one example that I have from this year, that make me really wonder, and also understand why the players respond the way they have sometimes.

I also disagree totally with last nights game. IMO this game did absolutely nothing to help the team get better and get ready for HC next week.

Gray with 4 and Sorrel with 7 equals a long night for Simon Kenton everytime.

About what I expected...SK has better guards but has no answer for the Colonels inside game of Thelen and Wellbrock.
