This game has been cancelled (shocker) and will not be made up.

Per GRC website the game will be made up on Wednesday at 7:30pm. The girls team from both schools will play at 6:00pm.

Not misinformed nor am I making up statements, there was no attempt to reschedule Scott Co.

 

Again, I will use the term 'misinformed'! There were many attempts made to make-up the Scott County game. The schedules for the two teams were on opposite tracks. Scott County over the last few weeks of the season since they were supposed to have played have played an unusual schedule. They have had games on every different night of the week. Some were make-up games, but many were there regularly scheduled games. SC had games scheduled on Monday and Saturday the rest of the way. While FC had games schedule on Tuesdays and Fridays the rest of the way. This made scheduling the games very difficult. Not to mention, Franklin County hasn't been in school the last 8 days, so no road games were allowed to be played by the Board of Education.

 

The two teams have played each other the last few years. The last two game were tight games, won in the final minute by Scott County. If they weren't afraid to play them the past two seasons, when I believe Scott County was a much deeper and more feared team than they are now, then I highly doubt they are avoiding them now.

So based on what you know your going to jump out there and imply that FC folks dodge other teams in order to better their win loss record?????

From what I was told Scott Co was really dissapointed becuse this would have been a big gate game, with the rivalry between the two and Franklin Co only being about 15 miles away.

 

Franklin Co. told Scott Co. the day after the game was scheduled that they were not interested in making up the game and that they was not going to make up the game.

If for no other reason, they were upset their kids didn't get a shot to play the #1 team in the state. I know the administration at the Board of Education know how upset the FC staff was about this game, and the silliness of their policy, since all the roads were fine the day of the game.

So why didn't they reschedule the game? That game was supposed to have been played January 26th. There were plenty days this game could have been made up after Jan. 26th.

 

I know that Scott Co. wanted to play this game, mainly because of the money the gate would bring to the program. I'm sure the replacement game against the West Virgina team didn't bring many fans with them.

The game tonight has been cancelled. Clark County would like to play it tomorrow night(Wednesday) as part of a boy-girl doubleheader. FC cannot commit to that yet, because of the probability that school will be cancelled on Wednesday in Franklin County. The superintendent's policy has been no school, no road trips. They are trying to get her to make a decision either way today, so Clark can schedule another game if they want to do that. It sounds like there will be a basketball game on Wednesday night at Clark County, whether Franklin County can play or not.

The George Rogers Clark boys basketball game scheduled for tonight against Franklin County has been canceled.

 

The contest has been tentatively rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of a boys-girls doubleheader. The Lady Cardinals will take on Franklin County in the opener at 6 p.m., followed by the Cards and Flyers at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Agreed. And Fullcourt is way off base with her statement.

No dog in this fight. But Grc was ridiculed for canceling and not rescheduling the Mason Co. game. They were "dodging" Mason even though they rescheduled Scott County after the orginal game was postponed. But in reality unless it is a district game its really not a big deal records wise. The dissapointment is from the fact of not getting a shot at a highly ranked team. I hope Franklin can make it to Winchester tomorrow. I enjoy watching them play and respect their program. But as I said in the thread about the Mason-Clark game the safety of the players and coaches traveling comes first.
