How about the Beechwood Tigers they finished 3rd place and did a terrific job for a Class "A" school from Norhern Kentucky Cograts to both St X and Beechwood. JD

Thank you! Beechwood is a tiny little school and is traditionally known for football. We have about 150 boys grade 9-12. To place third is HUGE in the state of Kentucky.

 

Shane Coltharp had an awesome day. Two first in individual races and two firsts in relays. He will do well at LSU.

 

Justin Youtsey placed first in diving.

 

Krissie Brandenburg placed first in a tight match at backstroke.

 

This is by far the best team Beechwood has ever had.

 

Congrats to all participants, but naturally I am especially proud of NKY Tigers!

This isn't typical of sports that use scoreboards, not to take anything away from the young lady from Beechwood who is a very accomplished athlete, this feels like a figure skating or gymnastics controversy where judges evaluations produce the end result. I'm not a chlorine head nor do I know much about the sport, but three state records, two individual, one of which had been held since 1993, in the 200 IM? Judges, Coaches, c'mon?

Brandenburg also won two individual titles and led her relay teams to two top 6 finishes, so it isn't like she didn't have a great meet. However, Williamson was deserving as well and very impressive. Don't they use some kind of point system to help decide this? I am not sure if it is decided completely by the coaches and judges or how they decide it. Maybe someone who knows can help us out. Regardless, congrats to both ladies on outstanding performances.
