March 25, 201016 yr Does anyone else think that the name Jacob could possibly come from the biblical reference of Jacob? He did have a brother who vowed to kill him. He vowed to kill him after Jacob traded a bowl of soup for his brother's birthright... I'm probably way off base lol.
March 25, 201016 yr I also thought that it was interesting that they showed how the statue got destroyed. I'm not going to pretend to be the "know all" between God vs. the Devil, but I do know quite a bit about the bible and the different stories. I think it is very interesting that this is the route the show is taking. I had suspected something sort of like this when they talked about this Jacob character, but it certainly took them a while to get here lol. What story-line in the bible do you think they will take? Like I posted before I think it could be something like in Revelation with the Anti-Christ and everything, but I may be way off... Just my first thought. I don't know which character would fit that, but to me it seems like Jacob may be. Again, I am probably way off and I too am not trying to sound like a know it all, at all, but that is just the first thing that my roommate and I thought of when we watched the episode.
March 25, 201016 yr I really don't think Jacob is evil. I'm definitely with HB20 on that one. I would imagine that MIB, currently in Locke's body, would be that Anti-Christ (if there were one). And if he were the Anti-Christ, maybe Jacob is preventing Revelation from happening by not allowing him to be released to the rest of the world. That would play into him being the "cork in the bottle". I'm probably way off base and thinking into it way to much lol.

I thought that at first, but Jacob (in the bible) fled to Egypt because he feared his brother. I don't think anything is really mentioned about them as brothers after that.

It's what makes the show great though. :ohbrother:So I am probably wrong on the whole Jacob being evil bit. Just thought I throw it out there and see if anyone else thought so too. It was worth a shot.
March 25, 201016 yr I thought that at first, but Jacob (in the bible) fled to Egypt because he feared his brother. I don't think anything is really mentioned about them as brothers after that. If I remember correctly, it was because his mother begged him to flee because she was afraid that Jacob's brother (I believe his name was Esau, or something like that) would kill him since he threatened to do so. It wasn't necessarily because Jacob was afraid. But, maybe that is why Jacob (in the show) hid in the shadow of the statue. if I was Esau, I would be a little upset with my mom and quite possibly think that she was crazy. MIB (in locks body) stated in this episode that he had a crazy mother. I am reaching way to far I know lol.

And Locke said he had a crazy mother too, I remember that. It does make a little more sense now if they based it off that story. It is apparent in the last episode that Jacob and the MIB are old friends. Jacob even said so himself. I think it was Hurley who asked him why he died and Jacobs response was something like about an old friend grew tired of him. It's a great possibility that the two were brothers.
March 31, 201016 yr OK, my latest theory. The "alternate reality" is what would happen if "Locke" is able to get off of the island.
April 2, 201016 yr Author Still trying to figure out how Christian Shepherd is going to be reintroduced. I'm thinking it's possible the MIB was simply using Christian Shepherd's body...but who knows.
April 2, 201016 yr I'm thinking it's possible the MIB was simply using Christian Shepherd's body...but who knows. That would be a good theory as well. I liked this show a lot better when I was watching it on DVD and I could watch multiple episodes back to back. This week to week stuff makes it a little harder to follow lol.

I've never watched week-to-week other than this season (still never have caught one on Tuesdays), so I'm always having to jog my memory of what's gone on.

Haha...I haven't caught one on Tuesday either lol. When the last season comes out on DVD I will buy it and watch them all in their entirety again at some point and it will be a little more clearer than this time around lol.
