I agree. If the Celtics were healthy, I would give them the edge.

It seems to me that everytime these 2 are on the court together Lebron is the better player. I know Kobe has followers who worship the ground he walks on, but Lebron is more complete and a better athlete. Add to the fact that Kobe has a better supporting cast (Lebron's is not as bad as some would like t think, but they are not equal to Kobe's) and a hands down better coach I think it shows how great Lebron really is.

Disagree, I can't find a team in the West that is going to beat LA in a best of seven. The Cavs have three teams (Bos Orl Atl) that could get them IMO. Let's everyone take a deep breath and remember that the Lakers still have the best record, the best Coach and the most proven playoff player in the NBA.

I know Kobe has an injury and this is the regular season but there isn't still a debate about who the better player currently is right? I mean LBJ is better at every phase of the game except scoring w/ his back to the basket, but he creates a ton of good looks for other players in that situation.

 

:thumb: Kobe is a top 6 or 7 player all-time IMO but he's no where close to where LeBron is IMO. This LeBron is better than Kobe has ever been. Per 48 minutes he is in the top 10 of every statistical category besides steals I think.

 

The game was a lot of fun. The Q is CRAZY, they do an amazing job with that place.

It's good that you enjoyed the game man, though obviously you wanted the Lakers to pull it out.

 

Something is simply not right with the Lakers. Kobe looks tired and his finger(s) are affecting his game. Gasol went from being a force on the inside to reverting back to wimpy Gasol. You almost get the impression he is content with last year's title. The bench is Odom and that is really it.

 

On the Cleveland side of things... I still do not understand why LeBron insists on trying to be a perimeter player when he is so much bigger than everyone else on the court and can get to the hoop easier than anyone in NBA history. Though people do not want to hear it or believe it, LeBron's "supporting cast" is good.

 

I don't see how the Lakers win the title this season. Gasol has not been good this season, Artest is a shell of his former self, Bynum is inconsistent at times as well. Teams like the Celtics and Cavs would give them fits in the finals because of how physically weak the Lakers front line is. The Magic couldn't do that last season, Cavs or Celtics can IMO.

 

If GM's in the NBA were picking sides for one year only and they could pick from the 2 teams last night including Mo Willimas LBJ goes 1st, Kobe goes 2nd, and then it's at least 4 Lakers in a row. If those 2 players switch teams the Lakers win at least 70 games and Cleveland finishes 4th or lower in the East. Please don't compare supporting casts. Cleveland's second best player is Mo freaking Williams.

I think the Spurs are going to be dangerous for the Lakers. Duncan is better than ever this season IMO, Parker will beat up on Fisher.

The biggest difference in LBJ's and Kobe's supporting cast is not the players. Its Phil Jackson vs. Mike Brown.

 

One is arguably the greatest coach in NBA history. The other is the guy who watched Lewis and Turkoglu torch his team for six straight games last year without making even a single noticeable adjustment in strategy.

 

Certainly, the Kobe's cast is better, IMO, but the difference there isn't close to the coaching discrepancy. Perhaps Mike Brown learned something from last season...but I doubt it.:idunno:

Cleveland's supporting cast is indeed better than a lot of people think.

 

Hickson is turning in to a very nice forward.

 

Parker provides an outside threat to allow Bron to drive without being double and triple teamed.

 

West has turned in to a pretty decent pg.

 

Shaq is an enforcer down low and that's why Cleveland has the best inside defense in the league right now.

 

Varejao is going to get you double digits more often than not.

 

Big Z isn't as much of an impact player has he used to be but he's a big man that can knock down several mid range jumpers during a game and will play hard for you down low.

 

With that said though, I still think the supporting cast of Brown, Fisher, Odom, Artest, Gasol, Farmar, and Bynum are hands down the better supporting cast.

 

Brown is a star in the making and Farmar has really improved both offensively and defensively.

I've grown to like Kobe alot more due to the amount of Kobe fans on this board. With that said, I agree that LBJ is better than Kobe right now. As of this season I don't see how someone could put Kobe above LeBron, and it's not because Kobe has been injured either. Kobe still has alot of game but the development of LeBron's game is out of this world right now. I have to wonder though what he could become if he were a little less arrogant.

Kobe is great now and he is a top 10 all timer there is no doubt. LBJ still has never played w/ a player that is one of the top 25 players in the league. Ever. For Kobe supporters to overlook that isn't fair.
