2010 NKY Freshman Invitational Tournament played at CovCath

Featured Replies

Anyone have any schedules for this upcoming tournament? I've heard that games start this Saturday, 1/23.

Who are the favorites? Which teams will stick with their frosh roster and not move JV/Varsity kids down to play in these games?

Which one? I think there are two different tourneys? Big school and smal school.

It would be nice to see all the teams move their freshmen back down. I realize there are some freshmen starting or playing significantly in varsity action and they probably will not move down. But it would be good to see all the freshmen teams at "full strength" and compete against each other in this tournament.

I heard today the draw is Jan 31st. Games begin on 2/3 at CovCath. There is only one tournament it is not split up. Boone is the 2 time defending champ and one of the favorites along with CovCath. Very balanced teams this year. I have watched most teams play and I would rank them the following:

1. CovCath

2. Boone

3. Scott

4. Highlands/Cooper/Ryle/NCC

I'm pretty sure there is a small school tourney at Lloyd.

I'm sure Cov Cath will be a top team since it's on their home floor & they won't let anyone else host it.

There, I'm glad we got that one out of the way.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Let the kids who played freshman all season and have busted their butts get the opportunity to play in this tournament. It's their end of the year tournament and they've worked hard. The class will play together soon enough.

I could easily be wrong, but hasn't Boone Co. won it like the past 3 years?

Not sure about last year but I know they won the previous two.

I can see your point. Let some of these players have their day in the sun because playing time and success gets tougher from here on out. That's fair. I am looking at it from a fan's view and would like to see the best freshmen in the area play it out.

Boone has won the last two. CovCath won the year before that, and Ryle won the year before that.

This year's tournament should be a dandy. It all depends on the draw...as usual.

The small school tournament is at Lloyd on Feb 13th.

There are 6 teams participating:

Lloyd

Villa Madonna

Bellevue

Newport

Dayton

Calvary (since they don't have a freshman team this year I'm not sure who will take their place. Maybe Ludlow?)

Cov Cath has to be the favorite. They are the class of NKY frosh teams in my opinion. I don't think they have lost to a N KY team yet.

I would probably agree. They still have to play Scott and Boone Co. before the tournament begins.

Having seen both teams I would say Boone is the favorite and don't overlook Scott either.
