*District Tournaments begin in just a few weeks. Probably not to early to start predicting the district champions who will move on to the Final Four.

Conner vs Walton will be a good matchup. McNeil and Moeves are back at the 8th grade level preparing for 8th grade state.

Summit View and Turkeyfoot play on Tuesday night, not Thursday.

Are you talking about boys or girls leauge? If Highlands boys play at Campbell Co, then Highlands girls are at home against Campbell Co. Also, 6th grade plays at 5 p.m., 7th grade plays at 6 p.m., and 8th grade plays at 7 p.m.. That is the way I understand how the leauge works.

This is the boys schedule.

Highlands 6th grade boys win tonight in a thriller against Holmes by a score of 53-50 in triple overtime. The boys brought it for 33 minutes of end to end basketball.

In the 7th grade game, the Birds lost by 9 at the end, but the game was within 5 points until the very end. Holmes just had a little too much size for the Birds, but they battled to the very end.

Holmes 7th is a nice group. Two big athletic inside players in Covington and Potter. HMS could not contain those two. Bolen and McClendan took advantage of the collapsing HMS defense to get some open looks and knocked down shots at critical times.

Highlands will struggle against teams with this combo of athleticism and size. HMS played well, but in the end too much size for the guard/forward rotation from Highlands to handle.

Still haven't played Campbell Co. or Sharp.

I would rank 7th grade teams in the NKMSBL

1. Ockerman

2. Holmes

3. Turkeyfoot

4. Highlands or Gray

Sounds like a great game, anytime you beat the bulldogs its nice.

Speaking of HMS, I thought the 6th grade team is really coming along and probably the best game I have seen the squad play to date. They played a good bulldogs team. In reference to the 7th grade, I know this might not be a popular decision but has any thought been given on either developing a big from the bench or dressing one from the 6 to at least give you minutes. The 7th boys play hard and are a good squad, but if they play a squad with semi-talented bigs it is done. The outcome could have been mcuh worse if the Holmes bigs had a better shooting night... I see the same issues when this class enters 8th grade next year.

Thanks for the summary. does anyone have a report (or at least result) on the Highlands-Holmes 8th grade game?

Highlands 6th grade with another win tonight over Campbell County Purple by a score of 48-33. "Big" Bo Hebel dominated the middle and finished with a game high of 28 points. All others played well and the team has now won 6 straight to improve their record to 11-5. Games on the road next week against Campbell County Gold and Sharp.

Highlands 7th grade was trailing at halftime by 7, but from what I understand came out victorious in overtime.
