Franklin County's Aaron Stepp resigns as Head Football Coach

Featured Replies

Aaron Stepp, head football coach at Franklin County High, resigned as coach today to the players. After a 1-9 season full of controversy and poor decisions, this is the best thing for the program. I hope ol' FCHS can hire a good one that will do it for the best interest of the program. The Flyers have a nice nucleus of players coming back next year.

They run out a good before they hired Stepp. Good luck to Coach Stepp.

Any ideas who is next?

Time to turn the page Flyers. Nothing but a great group of kids at FCHS. They deserve a Coach who is there for the kids and FCHS. There was a ton of momentum going before last years mess. Hats off to the Seniors who held them together as a Team. Jeremy and Franklin, you guys are all class and will be missed. I'm ready for the Administration to get it right and put the Coach or Coaches in that can get it going again. Hit that Weightroom guys and get ready for some fun Spring Ball and work towards those special Friday nights. :thumb: Go Flyers.

Bigcatdaddy? That Henry County fanbase loves them some Franklin County misfits don't they?????

I know they have at least 2 coaches from that school system...maybe more?

I think it was the jeans. :sssh:

Who will be running the weight room?

This thread kind of has me scratching my head. Can anyone elaborate on the "mess" that ensued this year? Also, the implication seems to be that the outgoing coach did not have the school's/team's best interests in mind, which also begs a lot of questions.

Please enlighten those of us outside the loop.

Two Coach's in two years, what is going on at FCHS?

Stepp just was not the right guy for this job. He was just a bad example for the kids and did not have the best interest for the kids. He did not send out any film for any of the players, which includes the heart and soul of the team in Jeremy Gardner. He did not emphasize academics as is shown in he not reporting the kids GPA to the KHSAA so that they could get academic awards. He had little respect for his staff as shows because none of the staff was coming back next year if he was coming back. He did not have much interaction with the boosters. He just took the fun out of it for the kids and he taught them to use excuses, which should never happen. I hope we get a good one, Ledford and Walker were great for the program so hopefully we can pick their momentum back up. Nick Sheridan, maybe? I wonder if Tracy or Graham will interview again. Good luck Flyers and have a good offseason.

May be going 1-9 had something to do with it as well.

Since when are coaches supposed to send out film? I know that some do, but some do not.

Really...every coach should send out film. How else is a college supposed to find out about their players? We send out film to over 200 colleges. Can all of our kids play there...no. But that's not our decision to make. We get the film in the hands of the college coaches and let them make the decisions. I can't fathom not sending out film. Why would you coach if you don't want to help you players go to college?

Who will run the wieght room and off season work? Flyers did not lift in summer, in season, and now off season??
