I glanced at the KHSAA website and it doesnt look like Franklin has made it past the 2nd round since 1990. That is as far as you can go back. So it would be before then. I think I saw 2 years they were 10-2 and several 9-3 seasons.

Just checking my playoff history FCHS has made it to the quarterfinals in 1985 AAA and 1986 AA, I don't know what there records where maybe some one can find out on here.

FCHS went 12-1 in the 1979-80 football season going all the way to the State Semi-finals. They had one heckuva a coaching staff with Gary Dearborn(the head coach), Sammy Harp and Ray Graham. Franklin County has a winning tradition and always has the athletes. This really is a good job especially with 8 starters returning on both sides of the ball.

I would have to do some research for you. I have no idea of the top of my head. I know they struggled for a few years after '80 because of the school splitting with Western Hills.

'99 8-3 Most wins sense '86

'00 6-5 Back to back winning seasons sense I don't know when so far back.

'01 5-6 First time in history to make the playoffs three years in a row.

'03 4-6

'04 8-3 Most wins sense '96.

'05 6-5

'06 7-4

'07 7-5 Most seasons in a row to make the playoffs, a record for Clay Co.

Coach Stepp has turn around two programs he is a good coach, I hope things work out for him.

You make it sound like HC was down...but Harrison was 10-4 and finished 1 game from the state title the year before he came.

 

And before that they were in the same district as Lexington Catholic.

Read into it what you wish I was commenting to add to Blackshirts great research. Ray did a great job for years but that team was helped by the KHSAA's great trial of inter district play that year. How far would they have gone if they would have played Winston Guy and Lex. Cath that year in the 2nd round not the power house known as Greenup County that year.

I was just pointing out that he wasn't taking over a bottom feeder...he was taking over a regional runner up team that was looking to benefit from Lexinton Catholic being removed from the district...
