January 2, 201016 yr I think it began in basketball when the networks would always tell everyone how good the Big East and ACC were. Then they would show the records of the conferences vs. the rest of the tournament teams. I say it goes back to the late 80's early 90's.

I think the formation of the BCS has a lot to do with it. Easier road to the title game, automatic BCS bowl bids, etc. I know a lot of Anti-UK people who like to claim it is just us that talks about the SEC, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

January 2, 201016 yr I've always hated the whole my conference is better than yours in any sport at any level. Myself, I usually tend to hate the teams in my conference. Usually your rivals... It's just weak to me, it's saying my brothers can whip your brothers. I root for my teams, and really and truely hope everyone else loses as much as possible.
