I watched Trinity play in the pre-season, they weren't overly impressive but there is just something about them that I liked alot. I picked them to win the 7th in the sweet 16 contest.

It's a looooong horse race. Sad to say that one of these three teams will not even get out of their district: Seneca, Ballard, Trinity!!! :scared:

Trinity Rocks win Republic Bank Tourney at Lex. Catholic 60 to 58 in OT!!

After leading 29 to 14 at half, Trinity falls behind by 8 in 4th qtr and comes back to force OT.

Win in OT with free throws and great defense on last possessions.

Just a question for the Trinity fans. Seems like a lot of the football posters on here don't support the basketball team. Is that not correct? If so, why not?

Jaylen Beckham was the best player on the floor last night.

 

He had 27 in a losing effort. To drop 27 on one of the best defenses in the state really says a lot about how good this kid is.

I can't say enough about how well this Trinity team has played so far, especially their defense. To hold LexCath to 14 points in the first half is pretty amazing, and then to pull it out in OT shows a lot of team chemistry and resolve.

 

As far as them being the favorites, I dont know if you can say any team in the 7th is a favorite. Ballard beat Trinity already and just defeated Warren Central pretty handily in the Poplar Bluff Showdown, and the Rocks are yet to play Jtown. Either way, the Rocks are definitely one of the top 3 in the region right now, and being the first to win both holiday classics in the same year is a great accomplishment!

He was certainly the quickest player on the floor and did get to the hole well but he will need to develop more of an outside game as IMO he will not be able to penetrate like that at the D1 level and finish with his lack of size!

True, but you have to realize he's only a sophomore. He still has two and a half more years to develop that. If he's able to get to the hole whenever he wants, why try to settle for outside shots? He will get bigger and stronger over the next two years and IMO be the best player in the state by his senior year. Manning is more well rounded at this point but Beckham is the most talented player in the state for that c/o 2012.

Ballard has been the most impressive team thus far, regardless of how well Trinity has played lately. Ballard is currently 10-1 and owns victories over both the preseason #1 and #2 teams. (Holmes/Scott Co)

Obviously against Trinity he had a big night, but I have noticed he has had quite a few low output games scoring wise. Haven't seen any of his games but in those low output games he must not have been able to get to the rim any time he wanted. Bottom line is that I agree with the poster that said he needs to develop a real good outside game to be a complete player.

The same was said about Vee Sanford and he's currently seeing minutes at Georgetown as a freshman. I don't diagree with your analysis that he has things that he needs to improve on, because he most certainly does, but for his age he is extremely talented and is only going to get better over the next two years. He's going to be a point guard at the next level, regardless, so his job will be to distribute the ball...not score like he's doing now.
