Highlands 50 Walton-Verona 40

Featured Replies

A very interesting game to watch. Highlands led by double digits and Walton cut the lead to 4 with the ball late in the 4th quarter. Katie Allen made a couple of great defensive plays. Highlands has a very nice team and I was impressed by their 2 Freshman, plus the poise of Allie Conner. Walton battled the whole game, but fell a little short. Hopefully they can get Ginn healthy and be ready to take on North Oldham next week.

IN MY OPINION

The two clowns missing from the Barnum and Bailey Circus apparently found two referee uniforms and masqueraded as officials tonight in Walton. The older one, (Methuselah) and the younger one who wore a referee shirt that didn’t exactly accentuate his figure were perhaps the worst I’ve ever seen. The good official demonstratively made a charging call that occurred about two feet from him under the basket. Methuselah runs over from 15-20 feet away and discusses the call with the official. The end result is a double foul called by Methuselah. The offensive player called for charging and the defensive player called for blocking. The larger, younger official wearing the hip hugger referee shirt seem to be yearning for the approval of Methuselah in every horrendous call he made. Next time you guys take a leave of absence from Barnum and Bailey may I suggest going to the local YMCA and officiate 3 and 4 year old soccer games. A woeful performance tonight that I’m sure was noted by some.

I have to agree. Never saw a charge/block changed to a double foul. Officiating was pretty sad.

On the block charge - the ref under the basket made the block signal (hands on the hips) and then changed it to charge. (Not sure if he got his signals mixed up). The outside official came in and called it a block. Ended up a double foul - very strange call.

I have seen better officiated games, but having said that Highlands made more plays and deserved to win.

Agree that WV needs to get healthy. Katie Slavey took a bad fall to the back of the head and had to come out when she was shooting very well(3 of 5) from the 3pt.

Do you really want to go there? I am assuming they were 8th region refs.

Questioning officials is normal and acceptable. They have to be accountable.

However, the other 90% of your post is unbecoming.

Throw up your picture and let the officials on the board critique your figure, attire, and looks. If its good for the goose....

The only thing unbecoming was the way the game was officiated last night.

I agree. The personal comments are certainly not needed.

As always, "it was the officials". We played a perfect game and they were terrible. After a while this gets old.

A very good WV team should be commended. They had a game plan and stuck to it the whole way out. Unfortunately for Highlands, Waltons game plan was to shut down Towles inside and they did a very nice job along with 3 other players who will go unmentioned.

It was nice to see the Birds get the win without their star post player to show teams that Highlands has the depth and confidence late in a game to hang on and still win. Nice team win. 20n10.

BluegrassPreps is the absolute best! This is the ultimate entertainment and information bargain. Where else can you get such great opinions and insight and somewhat good-spirited banter from a variety of perspectives?
