December 25, 200916 yr Morgan Newton has very poor command of his throws at this stage of his career. Believe it or not, he has looked better in the games throwing the football than in many of the practices. Ryan Mossakowski, at this stage of his career that hasn't even allowed him to be on the field yet, is a much more polished quarterback in the UK system than Morgan Newton. Moss' issues are body and arm strength and fully recovering from his shoulder surgery. Oh, and staying healthy.
December 29, 200916 yr If Mossakowski can throw the ball down field acurately, I like his chances. Sort of like the decision that Mumme made with Bonner but went with Lorenzon.
December 29, 200916 yr Man, I remember how down people were on Woodson at the beginning. You just have to play it out IMO. My question to those already discounting Newton is what true frosh QB this year looked like a HOF'er? Forcier looked good for a while, but he slowed down near the end of the season and also played in a system that really showcases athletic QB's. Barkley looked good for alot of the season, but he has way more talent on his team than Newton could ever dream of at UK IMO. I'm not saying Newton is the next Woodson, I just don't think it's fair to write off a true frosh QB who led his team to a bowl in the SEC. :thumb: :thumb:
December 30, 200916 yr I am not impressed with Newton. He has been given plenty of opportunites at the expense of Fidler and Hartline. Spring ball should be very interesting...

Newton played because Hartline got hurt...not at his expense. He played over Fidler because he gave them a better chance to win.

December 30, 200916 yr Newton played because Hartline got hurt...not at his expense. He played over Fidler because he gave them a better chance to win. I will disagree with you on that one... I think Fidler won the Auburn game that Newton couldn't finish.
December 31, 200916 yr I will disagree with you on that one... I think Fidler won the Auburn game that Newton couldn't finish. And then with the exception of one series in the Mississippi State game, basically never played the rest of the season. Will Fidler handled this with great maturity. He is a better man than I would have been.
December 31, 200916 yr I will disagree with you on that one... I think Fidler won the Auburn game that Newton couldn't finish. You can disagree all you want. Rich Brooks and Joker Phillips seem to think Newton gave them a better chance to win. I'll take their opinion over yours.
December 31, 200916 yr Are we seriously fighting over Hartline and Fidler? I'll take my chances with the younger guys. MH and Fidler played decent just as Newton did. If it's even or close I'll go with the young guy in most situations. UK is better off the way they went IMO.
December 31, 200916 yr Hartline and Fidler might as well transfer. Newton was less than mediocre in the bowl game and neither of them even got a thought. I may be in the minority here, but I think the offense was better with Hartline under center than with Newton. I also saw little to no improvement in the offense from Newton's first game to his last. I hope Moss is what he has been built up to be, because I'm not real excited about the QB situation right now.
