December 28, 200916 yr Author I think he could be a decent backup... he has always been a smart player. Atl is pretty good, but certainly not what Brohm was hoping for today. Yeah, there are a lot of backups in the NFL that make you scratch your head. This is one start, maybe he improves.
December 29, 200916 yr It sucks man.. those aren't even back up QB numbers but it was one game. I hope they keep him on active roster and let him learn the NFL game. It is way to fast for him right now. It wasn't at all, you clearly didn't watch the game.....the deck couldn't have been stacked against him worse...he is missing two starters on the OLine, they dumbed down the offense, being that he's been there a few weeks....and the Falcons blitzed in every passing situation. His stats aren't nearly what he would've liked, but he performed alright.....we'll see how game 16...and next year's preseason progress......the game's speed is not the issue whatsoever.
December 29, 200916 yr Author Read somewhere today, that Buffalo still plans on starting Fitzpatrick next week if healthy. Bufflao wasn't displeased with Brohm, for reasons mentioned above. He'll get another shot there.

I know your a big fan or Brian's and a Trinity guy but he is no better than a #3 right now. But as I said before there is a reason why only 16, 18 guys on the planet have comfortable QB jobs. Hopefully, they keep him on the active roster and he continue to learn that's all you can hope for.

December 29, 200916 yr Author Simple, he's not an NFL-caliber QB.... Still not enough sample to know for sure, but that certainly seems true up until this point. He wouldn't be the first or last college standout not to make it, most good NFL QB's come out of nowhere. That's always seemed so odd to me. Most college QB standouts flop in the NFL. :idunno:

Did any of you watch the game. I did...he played effective, particularly with 3 days of work for the game plan. I don't know if he'll play against the Colts this weekend, but if you read the Buffalo press, it wasn't a bad review, he made the right decisions, threw the ball rather well, and still made some mistakes in his first game. Considering the sample is not nearly enough to determine his NFL worth, I'll wait and see. I know many of you find joy in his struggles, but I think he'll prove to be valuable before it's all said and done.
December 29, 200916 yr FWIW I watched the Chargers play the Bengals the other day and saw Rivers intercepted twice. Is he not NFL caliber either? Brian has been with the Bills for what, 4 weeks? He's NEVER started an NFL game, let alone played an entire NFL game. Putting aside he's Brian Brohm, is it fair to characterize a QB based on one game in a new system that he came into so late? On top of that, there was no running game whatsoever. The Falcons shut down that game completely and forced the Bills to throw. The starting RB had 39 yards in the game. The plan by the Falcons worked. I think it would be fair to say that it was as much the Falcon's Defense as it was Brian's inexperience. Interesting side note: Brian threw TO his 1000th catch. Guess who through TO his very first catch? Jeff Brohm. Pretty cool tidbit.
December 29, 200916 yr I find zero joy in his struggles, but part of never starting is not being good enough to right? GB used a second round pick on him and wasn't bothered at all when he moved on.
December 29, 200916 yr I didn't watch the game, didn't need to. I knew how he'd do without watching. The guy is in his 3rd year, has never been above a 3rd string QB, and wasn't good enough to cut it in GB. Newsflash: 3rd String-QBs, as a rule, can't cut it in the NFL. Has zero to do with it being Brohm.
