Im Mason County in and out,But I think Highlands wins this one,Maybe later in the season Mason wins,But I'm not sure about game 5 of the year.Should be close though.

Highlands has MUCH more depth and experience than Scott. They are in no way, shape, or form similar to Highlands.

 

6'3, 6'2, 6'2, and 6'3 simply isn't going to get it done against Highlands front court. I don't think you realize how physical Highlands is down low and how much their size will come in to play in this game. Watson, Smith-Keller, Dill, and Stewart also have athleticism to go with their size and can knock down the mid range jumper. Grubbs provides a big body down low to bang and clean up on the glass, while also providing a nice touch around the rim.

 

You're underestimating Highlands big time.

Last year's scoring line:

 

Kowolonek 24 pts. 13 boards (8-8 from line), Watson 12, Grote 10, Gordon 4, Dill 3, Smith-Keller 1

 

All of those players are back this year with more experience. Highlands killed Mason Co on the boards last year too and Grubbs didn't even play due to football. Highlands defense frustrated MC the whole game as well. I know you're going to say MC was without Downing and Hamm, but realize they won't have them this year either so that point would be irrelevant.

 

Bottom line, all things considered from above how could anyone see an inexperienced MC team as a favorite in this game? IF MC had Pawsatt I'd like their chances a little more, but without him Highlands front court will dominate this game.

It's sad to say but it all depends on how the game is officiated. Highlands is more physical and a little deeper, but Mason is quicker overall and more athletic. It should be a very good game. If Highlands doesn't shoot the ball better than they did against Dixie, Mason will win.

Alot of people are underestimating Highlands right now. With Grote being 60-75% and Grubbs playing sparingly all Highlands has done is opened up the season 3-0. This team is still rounding into shape and adjusting to the new style and Coach Flynn is just getting to know his players as well. Once Grubbs and Grote return to the starting rotation this team will step it up a notch. Hope the Bulldogs underestimate the Birds come March.

Mason loses this friday.

The Birds nest will be invaded by the 10th region this weekend. I believe Brossart visits on Saturday. Highlands will see two different styles of play by 2 physical 10th region teams. It will be interesting to see how the 10th region teams handle the 9th region refs.

It is hard to beat the Birds in Ft. Thomas. Highlands is stacked and deep. They are a very fun team to watch. If I had one draft pick of any 9th region player to form a team around (and Ricardo was not available ) it would be Stephen Kowolonek. Mason County is always good but this time give the nod to Highlands.
