I should point out that the young man in the first photograph is not Austin. It's his younger brother Jac, a freshman at Highlands. Austin can be seen in the background wearing an Army hat while being interviewed by a television station. Jac is already taller than Austin.

 

I'm glad you pointed that out. Earlier today I wondered why Jac wasn't in the family picture, then I realized just a minute ago that was him in the picture.

I can still picture Holly in her UK cheerleading uniform in front of the TV camera every single time UK was on TV

I know that Austin was amazing...or is for that matter...that said.....is he better than Miles Simpson? What I am getting at, is there any sense whatsoever that he made this team over others due to bloodline?

 

Now, I don't want to start a war here, but I certainly feel there were some young men in the Commonwealth that had comparative seasons, and I want to clarify the choice. Is he the absolute #1 prospect out of KY? If so, then I am all for it, if not, I have to question....

You had to tryout for the team last year...I don't know if any other kids from Ky went last year?? The kid has played 3 different positions in 3 years. He is very versatile and projects at S in college.

From my understanding you are invited your Jr. year. You actually go to a combine and they time you and run you thru the paces. Brandon Roller was also invited. However, the combine was in early January, just after Brandon's knee surgery. He attended but was unable to participate. Unfortunate timing for Brandon because I'm confident he would have made a great showing at this combine.

 

I'm sure there are players that you felt should have been invited, but these players are chosen after their Jr. year from across the country. The list is then narrowed down from many to 90 that will actually be on the team in January.

Perhaps SK isnt quite on the same stage as Highlands. Its all about winning consistently year in and year out and recieving the National attention for their accomplishments. Pretty sure Trinity has the same attention the last I checked and that is what helped Brohm. If Miles would have attended Highlands or Trinity then he probably would have been in this game. But I can tell you he would not have been a front runner for Mr Football if he had attended Highlands. Just doesnt happen with the voters. :thumb:
