If it is Kelly like many people think it will be with the history of him making any quarterback look great that could make Clausen a legitmate number 1 pick the following year and maybe a Heisman winner. There's more risk than reward there though...Clausen's stock is high right now. He should be a first round pick, quite possibly a high pick. There's not much to gain from returning and a lot to lose potentially.

 

But, it would be fun to see Kelly coach Clausen, Tate and Floyd for a year.

I think Jimmy proved a lot to some doubters this season. There is a reason he was one of the more sought after recruits in the country a few seasons ago -- I do not believe many people thought he would succeed after seeing him his first year or two.

That's true he really doesn't have much left to gain and your right I would love to see what Kelly could do with all the offensive weapons he would have.

Not a surprise here, he is the best all around QB in the country IMO and his game translates better to the Pro's than most. I would have liked to see how he would have done with BK as coach though.

No doubt, but also his attitude did not help matters when arriving to South Bend.

He proved that he could lead a team to 6-6 with a decent schedule.

 

Probably the best move for Jimmy, but if I were in his position I would wait to see who the new coach is.

 

Claussen is the #3 rated prospect according to ESPN. I think he'll have a solid NFL career.

Pike and Sam Bradford seemed to do pretty good in the spread offense, even though neither are really running threats. I think Claussen would have done great with it, and probably would have ended up being the #1 pick in the draft if he stayed.

 

I think the main reason why he is leaving more than any other reason, is because we all seen what happened to Bradford coming back. Since he knows his stock is high, he doesn't want the same thing to happen to him and chance getting hurt. Especially since he will have an inexperienced in front of him. If Bradford never got hurt this year, then I think he might have stayed if he would have liked the coach they brought in.
