I agree, no surprise here. He has looked solid this entire season. If you take away he and Golden Tate, ... Weis wouldn't have made it thru half the season without being fired. Not sure if ND would have won a game without those two players.

Best of luck to Claussen. He is one fine QB. I would like to see him go to the Rams.

He'd be nuts to stay...new coach coming in, new offense, his stock could easily plummet if the transition was rough.

Also, I'm guessing ND didn't endear themselves to Clausen by denying he and the rest of the Irish the opportunity to play one more game.

I can't think of a reason for him to stay.

I thought the team voted and the majority was to skip a bowl game this year?

Maybe. I thought the AD made the decision. I could be mistaken. I wasn't under the impression that the players had a say in the decision.

I thought the players had a meeting and voted not to go and that the AD would take their suggestion in making a decision. I'm almost certain I read that, but I can't produce a link so I could be wrong.

Either way, I can see the benefits of going and not going. Been a rough year for them and they don't want to risk laying another egg against a so/so opponent, but 15 extra practices would help the depth chart.

I see the Rams going with Locker. Maybe Cleveland for Clausen but I don't know if they'd chance another ND QB, and we can't forget that Bradford is still in the mix.

I think Bradford will still be a great pro. I would like to somehow see him end up a Dallas.

The players definitely had a meeting and vote on whether to play. I'm unsure of how the vote went.

My bad. I know I heard an analyst or sports writer criticizing the ND AD for not giving his team a chance to play another game...from his statement, it sure didn't lead me to believe the players had any say.

If the players voted not to play, then there's no reason to criticize the AD for granting their wish, IMO.

I officially retract my statement. :D
