Agreed. Highlands looked nice in the game Friday, but by no means are they untouchable. Would be a very competitive game for sure.

 

Did Boyle have enough of a passing game to defeat Highlands? It appears they would not have a problem picking up yards on the ground against the Bluebirds. I also believe they could slow down the Bluebirds running game but may have trouble against the mix of run and pass thrown against them.

Good question actually. No doubt Highlands would be favored, but I think it could be a competitive game nonetheless.

Ya know....there is one way to find out who would win a game between these two teams......play each other during the regular season. Rockcastle got beat by both Bell and Boyle...straight up...but they weren't afraid to play either. They also played Whitley, Southwest Pulaski, Pulaski and Lincoln who are 5A schools and at least two of them went deep into the playoffs in 5A. They did have a losing record for the first time in over two decades...but they did play all these teams. If the fans at Boyle want a piece of Highlands....press ol' French....get you a game and see who wins. After Highlands beat the St. X out of Cincy this year after the big boys from the 'Ville couldn't....I'd have to throw my hat toward Highlands. McShara was awesome as a running back...but I'd still think that Highlands would be more of a bite than Boyle could chew this year.

I think those are pretty accurate. Boyle might upset Highlands in a series but the Bluebirds are most likely the better team. I just think it would have been a good game had it actually occurred.

We have in the past (unlike some) and I would like to see us have that series return. Maybe a bowl game somewhere?

I think it would be competitive game. It would be good for the state as well. Two traditionally good teams fighting to be the best of the state.

 

Also, I wanted to note that most of everyone in this state would underestimate Lone Oak. However, they are as talented as they come. So for anyone who thinks that Lone Oak is a push over, you are highly mistaken.

I think that is fair prediction score(Highlands/Boyle County). Boyle County and Highlands prepare just as good as any team in this state. I think it would be a closer game than most expect. Hopefully in the near future these two power houses battle it out. :thumb:

 

Like you, I think Highlands would beat St. X. We'll save that for another day.

Boyle County and Highlands are tied at 2-2 in this series I believe. I would welcome a Highlands return to the same class as Boyle County. To be the best you have to beat the best. I'd love this match up.
