Boyle was a solid team, but, wouldn't stay within 3 touchdowns of Highlands, imo. I know they beat Lone Oak, but, I think the Flash was the more talented of the 2 teams. Boyle was the better coached and they made the halftime adjustments to pull things out. Lone Oak isn't Highlands though.

Ya know....there is one way to find out who would win a game between these two teams......play each other during the regular season. Rockcastle got beat by both Bell and Boyle...straight up...but they weren't afraid to play either. They also played Whitley, Southwest Pulaski, Pulaski and Lincoln who are 5A schools and at least two of them went deep into the playoffs in 5A. They did have a losing record for the first time in over two decades...but they did play all these teams. If the fans at Boyle want a piece of Highlands....press ol' French....get you a game and see who wins. After Highlands beat the St. X out of Cincy this year after the big boys from the 'Ville couldn't....I'd have to throw my hat toward Highlands. McShara was awesome as a running back...but I'd still think that Highlands would be more of a bite than Boyle could chew this year.

Put me in the group that believes that while Highlands is a great team and likely the best team in the state that we could compete and possibly beat this year's version of Highlands. Could I be wrong? Maybe. But this thread was started for this kind of reaction, so I'll oblige.

 

Collinsworth has reportedly had a case of fumbilitis this year, we could possibly capitalize off of that.

 

We aren't intimidated by the name on their jerseys.

 

We have proven to be capable of beating holier-than-thou Highlands before....for a State Championship, mind you.

 

I think it'd be a better game than people think and while most of you say no contest, well, if I thought that way, I never would have responded in the first place.

 

Maybe one day we can pick this series up.

 

Tell Mueller to call French and set it up. We are the bigger school population-wise anyways, so we deserve the first gate.

We have nothing but the utmost respect for Highlands as well. From both sides of TitleTown for that matter. The back to back years of the home and home series between TitleTown were 4 highly anticipated games in a 2 year span for TitleTown. I would love to see the series renewed.

The part that really jumped out at me was calling a player out by name (fumblitis). The Boyle County fans that I know and respect wouldn't do that with, or without, a tongue in cheek.

 

I was around when Boyle started gaining their momentum and when they won their first championship...and their second....and their third...and their fourth....and their fifth.

 

As a fan-base, they were hard to handle at times in the beginning of their storybook success. They wanted to make sure that everybody knew they were just as good as their successful neighbors across town (or, for that matter anywhere in the country).

 

Somewhere around the second title, they mellowed and became very mature and gracious posters.

 

The ones who have been around for awhile are the best, most positive posters on this site. The Boyle County fans who went through those battles with their boys back then are knowledgeable, reasonable and quick to give credit where credit is due.
