Why, I don't understand why everyone hates Tebow. I love the guy. He is a great role model for kids in a time where athletes are usually nothing but negative influences. He always gives 110% effort and plays with 120% sportsmanship. He's just awesome.

 

I don't have a problem with Mr. Tebow. He does nothing wrong. He's the man, plain and simple...

Because the lovefest goes overboard. Frankly, I've grown weary of "Mr. Wholesome, Tim Tebow, All-American Boy" and all that is attached to it. I can't help but think that, like Tiger Woods and his sparkly image, Tim Tebow is too good to be true.

At least all the talks about Tebow being one of the best players in history should die down now. He is a great player just like any player who has won a Heisman. Like a Jason White, Eric Crouch, Danny Whaffle, etc. However just the talks about saying he might be the best ever was crazy to me. He was no doubt great, but so were a lot of these other players in college. I think Tebow as a starter only has led Florida to two comeback victories during his time there. So its not like he was someone who when they were trailing at end of games was able to put them on his back and lead them to wins. With as good as the defense was during his time there, there weren't many chances for him to have to comeback. However he didn't do such a great job in the few situations where he had to. Not to mention if say they do lose this bowl game, he would be 1 and 2 as a starter in Bowl games. Tebow is a great college player, a good role model, and just a very good person. However lets not talk about him possibly being of the best ever to play the game anymore. He was great just like any other player who won the Heisman, but lets not make it more than that. Honestly for a career we probably could say Matt Leinhart was more successful than him...

Hey, I actually agree with you, he's not the greatest college player of all time, probably not even top five anymore, but I still think he was a great college football player, possibly among the ten best. It does make you wonder whether or not the majority of the success was attributed to having a dominating defense-this season, and one of the best offenses in SEC history-including Louis Murphy, Percy Harvin, and Aaron Hernandez, and not really so much to Tim Tebow. He is a very good leader, and I think some of the credit has to go to Tebow for the final drive against Arkansas, the second half of both the Alabama and Oklahoma games-but just as much credit could certainly be given to Dan Mullen for calling the plays, Charlie Strong for making some great halftime adjustments, and Percy Harvin, Riley Cooper, Louis Murphy, and Aaron Hernandez making big catches. Great player, great statistics, but is he simply Colt Brennan with huge playmakers around him? I guess that's in the eye of the beholder.

He is no doubt a great player, he just was never as good as some people made him out to be IMO. He had tons of talent around him his first two years as a starter on offense, and well a great defense. We seen this year that he wasn't as good on offense as past years, now that he didn't have studs like Harvin around him. He also got to play in a system that Urban Meyer has that EVERY QB he has had has done great in. He made Alex Smith a 1st overall pick, and Chris Leak a National Champion starting QB. So he plays in a system that makes QB very successful. Obviously he has talent, but the system he played in and other things made him look better than he truly was. He is a great player, just not as great as some wanted to make him out to be. I know I think that was the last game he will ever start at QB. I just don't see his game translating well to the NFL. I hope I am wrong though, because he is a good guy and plays hard.

I agree that the lovefest is overboard, ... has been for the past 3 years. The funny part is that Tebow isn't the reason that so many hate him. The national sports media's 'man crush' on him has caused this. If they left him alone and didn't give him so much love, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

BTW, Alabama looked like the best team in the country. Just dominant on both sides of the ball. Saban has brought back one of the most tradition rich programs in the country and has them back in the national title game. Like him or not, the man can flat out get it done.

I agree, while I don't like that it came against my team, I like it when the top teams-Texas, Nebraska, Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, Florida, and, if they can get the right guy, Notre Dame-are on top. They aren't the most prestigious school in college football IMO, but they are the most tradition-rich school of the south, which supports its teams unlike any fan base in the world.

Meyer just got out-coached and Bama was hungry and has the better team. UF does not have a run stopping defensive line IMO, and Dunlap wouldn't have helped much because he is strictly a pass rush guy. UF's WR are awful IMO as well. And only 14 rushing plays for UF, they can't win like that this season IMO.

What is the criteria for longest drive? CBS put up a graphic that said 'Bama's big drive that basically drove the nail in the coffin was their longest of the season. It was a 17-play, 88 yard drive that consumed 8:47 off the clock.

 

'Bama had a 97 yard drive against UK. However, it was only 13 plays and took only 6:50 off the clock.

 

There's really no point to my question other than my own curiosity.
