December 7, 200916 yr I didn't see anything on this, but does any think UC let Pitt score to get the ball back?
December 7, 200916 yr Another difference is the strength of schedule. Texas does not play an overly demanding schedule, but they have beaten 3 ranked teams, including Oklahoma. I can't remember if Bradford was able to play in that game or not (I think he did then got hurt again), but the point is that they played a few of the big dogs & won. Cincinnati is another big win away from being in the national championship. Maybe if Oregon State had a better year UC had a stronger schedule top to bottom than Texas. Zero question about it IMO. And what exactly is bad about finishing 2nd in the Pac 10 after a fantastic game against their hated rival on the road with a trip to the Rose Bowl on the line???

And what exactly is bad about finishing 2nd in the Pac 10 after a fantastic game against their hated rival on the road with a trip to the Rose Bowl on the line??? The schedules are a toss-up, IMO. My comment was that "maybe if Oregon St. had a better year." I meant "better finish," as in beating Oregon. Had they pulled that off, they could have been in the top 10.
December 7, 200916 yr Giving up Waaaaaaaay too many points at this point in the year. Pitt is a very good team, but giving up that many points on a regular basis is not going to get it done......IMO..The Defense thingy will eventually catch up with UC.
December 7, 200916 yr UC rose to the occasion when it mattered. People can say this or that about the defense, but take in to account they weren't helped much by the offense in the first half. Miscues by the offense and special teams gave Pitt great field position. (Int's, blocked punt) Their defense stepped up in the second half and was the reason that UC won the game. They gave their high powered offense a chance to get them back in the game by limiting Pitt to just 13 points. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Mardy Gilyard's performance yet. I believe he had 384 all purpose yards. That's unreal.
December 7, 200916 yr I didn't get that impression. I was uncertain. It looked like there was effort at the line of scrimmage, but I wasn't sure what the DBs were doing. It kind of looked like they weren't too concerned about making a stop.
